Maybe the 08 girls selection pool was weak and the staff had slim pickens!!!

I doubt the pool for 08s in NJ were weak when the NJ1 team won 3-0 over Virginia 1, 8-0 over Virginia 2, and 4-0 over Massachusetts. No single player or 2 is going to give your team that kind of lopsided wins. Those states usually produce a good number of selections as well as a few players in the final region pool.

08 parent here, one did quit months ago and the other has been injured and won't be back in time for East ID.

The fact that you believe what a anonymous poster posted on here like they are in the know is silly. My d is a 08. She's done ODP for the last 4 years. I asked her about this and she said the kids she knows that got one were all there this past weekend, and thats 7 kids, not counting her. I agree with the above poster, someone's kid didn't get selected and now they are crying like a two year old girl.

This kis wasn't injured. She is a friend of my Ds and yes a good player but she QUIT ODP back in Nov.

Waaaaaaaaaaa..... my daughter didn't get an invite. 600 kids who never attended odp got one, but my little Alex Morgan didn't. Waaaaaaaaaa......

At the 08 age level I wouldn't be so concerned on who made the camp and more worried about what College ID Camps my daughter was invited/going to. This means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of her soccer future or her ability to play soccer at any level. As stated above I would not believe anything on this forum especially when it comes to individuals (coaches or players) I would just stop trying to out 15 yo girls on this cesspool of a forum for whatever reason (injuries, stop paying, no good in your mind, lack of attendance) and try to figure out what they think she needs to work on (which should come with the ODP end of the year player review) and get busy on those issues.

Just got word that some players have been invited to Eastern ID camp that have been injured and out for months with another that had quit ODP back in Nov. ODP in NJ is horse $h!t. How can anyone justify sending invites to players who didn't play or show up to anything over players that have?

They pick who they feel are the best kids. It’s not an attendance award.

Regional tournament is when the regional scouts were there. That's the whole purpose of the tournament, to be seen by the regional scouts. So yes, you could have been the most amazing player in the universe, but if you didn't attend when the scouts were there to see you, than how can you expect to be chosen?

Read the pdf about selections. Scouts at Regional events are one way. State level staff are another way. The PDF states that invites can go out as early as April (way before regional event). So Regional event may be a big factor but not the only one. Talent is the larger factor.

Yea, but my d was probably the best on any of the teams in her age group. Why she didn' together one and other kids who were no where near her skill level received one is not right. I'm willing to bet these parents paid to have their craapy kids selected. My kid could play circles around all these kids, even up a year or two. ODP couldn't tell talent if it bit them in the face.

I imagine the 8 players for the 08s would have been the 2 goalies, a defender, 2x mids and 3 forwards all from NJ1. 2-3 others from that team should have gone as well as that was a rough team to be a stand out on. Congrats to you girl for making the next level.
