I wish they would do that but the only time they done those types of brackets was with U12 teams.

I think only top 1-2 teams should be allowed to play up. The domino effect can be quite significant for the remaining teams.

I think teams like Crush/Torpedoes are in that in between stage. I think they should almost do a 1a and 1b league. Take teams like Crush, Torpedoes, FA, STA, & WC to form their own league. Matchfit, SJEB, PDA, & CSA should be the 1a.

Are there any clubs in the top division that play to develop or is it only to win? Everyone here talks about results.

I only say this because I grew up in a European country where the academy system clubs would play each other and there would be games so one sided even there but nobody wanted to leave and join the other team because they lost.

As much as i like my kids winning games, its nice to see teams trying to work things out in game situations. if a team dominates possession in a game and loses 3-2 because of a couple of mistakes trying to play it out the back, is the winning team really a better team?

Ask a parent with a 16/17/18 year old player what they would repeat/redo if they could start fresh - It wouldn’t be win games at u11

And about 10 or so teams play up u11 9v9 every year mixed throughout their appropriate level flighting of EDP. It’s a mix of levels of teams every year. No point in putting them together.

As much as i like my kids winning games, its nice to see teams trying to work things out in game situations. if a team dominates possession in a game and loses 3-2 because of a couple of mistakes trying to play it out the back, is the winning team really a better team?

perfect example. I agree the results don’t matter at younger ages, however, if a team is the more dominant but loses 3-2, chances are they will win at least a game or 2 and be competitive. They won’t lose every single game for 2 full seasons and have anyone believe they are the more dominant team. That’s why EDP usually only moves down the teams that clearly don’t belong and are misflighted.
