            Lloyd's mistake was that she wanted to play soccer. Wanted to talk about soccer. Wanted to live soccer, breath soccer, and be around people that consider themselves soccer players and wanted to talk about soccer.

            There's no room for that type of person today.

              This is the worst thread I've read on this site. That includes the threads of parents who talk about kids by name and number, and the person who has a vendetta against Matchfit that spans years and tries to impersonate a Matchfit parent and get people riled up. This is worse than those. Horrible.

                I think you are not understanding the issue. It’s not diversity because everyone thinks it would be better .people are championing diversity because white man are denying those that are deserving an opportunity This is being done either consciously or unconsciously. So when an organization looks around and see nothing more than people who look like us. One has to ask, why have we left representation from over 65 percent of our country off our staff. Most do not care -others do. And some equate diversification with less quality They create paper tiger arguments like diversity means hiring less than. They say this to protect their position of a less diverse work force. Let’s be clear what we mean about A diverse work force. We simply mean a workforce of Qualified people who represent the United States of America.

                        This is false! Ecnl cost us about 10-12k over the course of the year. If you break that down into a daily rate it’s between $27-$32/ day. There are bums on the street with addictions that are $200-300 / day. So I think it’s very affordable for many people but it depends on how people want to spend their money. Also those cost are for one of if not the most expensive league. A kid could easily join a town league or local travel club for so much less.

                          You sound like your up Mike O’Neil’s ass so high you can smell all the pizza and Scottish ale he ate and drank growing up in Kearny. PDA is a private club. Not for profit as they tell the uninitiated at the charity drives and banquets and the fact you can’t even pay tuition online with a credit card and need to send a check to a Bernardsville address makes you wonder. It’s NOT a company so they tell you.

                          I agree you don’t hire just for the sake of hiring but you are absolutely fooling yourself if you don’t think there are quality coaches of color and women and coaches that check both boxes throughout this region. You know why there aren’t any diverse coaches at PDA because they aren’t taking the fing time to look in those places. Just like they aren’t looking for players in urban centers throughout the state, etc. Which is fine. Just call a spade a spade. When we were at PDA we had some awful female coaches but you know what? One coached at Rutgers and the other was a family friend of MO who played division I ball. PDA will hire what is familiar to them [i.e. friends and family and those connected to the day time employment (Rutgers). FYI: didn’t know Meg Ryan but I would see her coaching and directing her PDA team from afar and she was legit as any coach at PDA and now she’s the head coach at U. Of Maryland I believe.

                          You enjoy your 2 hour ride each way to Zarephath thinking the only ones associated with your kid’s soccer club is the “best of the best.” One final note, I’ve been with my kid at tournaments in FL, Tex, and Cali thus far with high performing teams from those states and the demographics of those teams represents more diversity than the NJ teams playing in those tournaments.

                            From a statistical perspective, it could mean more qualified if there was some evidence that the ethnic/gender communities had a trait that statistically put them above the average. For example, East African distance runners would be a group that statistically would likely represent more-qualified when putting together a marathon team. When putting together a coaching staff, is there statistical evidence that female coaches would be more qualified? Not sure about that. POC? I could actually see certain ethnic groups being more qualified. But I can definitely understand the argument that says prioritizing ethnicity ABOVE coaching ability in candidates runs the risk of bypassing a better coach for a less-qualified coach who is POC. If there was an overabundance of top-quality coaches to hire from, I could certainly see prioritizing diversity...but as evidenced by all the complaining of crappy coaching around here, I would say that quality coaches are not easy to come by, and as such, looking for diversity quotas is the wrong solution IMHO.

                                In my mind and reality diversity just for diversity sake is definitely a better opportunity for less quality to infiltrate the process. If you just go with quality from the jump there is less opportunity for the poorer quality to make it through and get hired. Kinda why they interview job applicants and don't just look at their picture aka NYC moving forward.
