It's a waste of money no matter how you spin it. Fun can be had for free.

i spend it because my child LOVES playing. i spend it because it keeps my kids off the streets doing something more constructive then hanging out in a rec center getting into trouble. this gives her more memories and life experiences and we bond of the time during traveling and discussing the games.

Wow you are special. I don't think this TS group is worried about keeping their kids off the "streets"-lol

I get to decide if it’s worth my money, not you.

You can't really draw that conclusion just by looking at those two clubs. You can say that yes, World Class has had success in building a diverse coaching staff. You cannot conclude simply by looking at the coaching staff that World Class actually made an effort to do so. It's entirely possible that simply more POC coaches applied for jobs there, or that the DOC simply happened to know more POC coaches and hired them because it was comfortable for him to do so. Similarly, we have no idea if Mike O'Neil just hired the coaches he knew and they happened to be mostly white male, or if he made a conscious effort to avoid hiring POC, or if POC for whatever reason didn't want to apply to PDA.

I know for a fact a few coaches that were more than qualified that were overlooked at PDA because they didn’t “fit in”. Just ask around.

Are you 100% sure that not "fitting in" was specifically because of ethnicity or gender?

Mike O’Neil grew up in Hudson County (Kearny). Played at Seton Hall in Orange and is the head coach of one of the most diverse state universities in one of the most diverse states in the entire country.

You’re acting like this guy is from from Happy Valley PA. GTFOH with that bullsh*t.

He wants to be around guys like him and if you have a British accent that’s a plus. Just call it like it is.

100 agree with you. It’s pathetic and too obvious for today. 5 years ago no Issue- today it’s just embarrassing.

I wrote the post. Never called him the R word. His operation at PDA is tone deaf and his day job (RU) is good with what he’s doing because his team is winning at a high level but PDA is not indicative of all the player nor coaching talent within the area. It’s the reality of his little world that MO controls which is OK with his bosses because of the success of both his platforms so he staffs how he pleases.

The square pegs that don’t fill into the PDA round holes will go to other ECNL and GA clubs. Simple as that.

HS season is when I have to hear the nonsense from people about how club soccer is a waste, all while watching their absolutely awful kids pretend to be able to play.

Not sure what Happy Valley PA is, but why would growing up in Hudson County, playing at Seton Hall and being the head coach at one of the most diverse state universities make him racist or anti-diversity?

How do you work around and grow up around so much diversity and yet your work environment is still so homogenous?

IMO he staffs based on coaches that will not expose him or question anything. There have been issues in the past and bringing in diverse, smart different thinkers could expose his massive shortcomings.
