You didn't answer why though? Is it just because they are women/minorities?

In our time at PDA we didn’t find it to be a racist organization. It’s definitely a capitalist organization. Non profit my foot. It’s just one of the most non-diverse youth athletic programs you’ll see in NJ. Some may see that as a problem in one of the most accessible sports a kid can play which is the game of soccer.

I don’t think it’s conscious. It attracts top regional talent and then if you live within 45 minutes ride from the field and/or have a sibling/family member in the organization and can cut a sizable check to Patty Seitz your kid can fill up the second and third team rosters.

We were there. We saw it and we left but for other reasons.

it may not be conscious. It very well may be unconscious-but the affect is still the same.

Now that you bring it to light - I cannot recall seeing a single female or black coach during our years at PDA. To add don’t recall a single Hispanic, Asian, Indian or any other ethnicity. It is strange when you see how diverse the premier league is how popular soccer is outside of the US.

Correct. The majority of CEO’s today are very aware of the diversity of their staff- so I call bull**** on the unconscious part.

We need more female coaches on the girls side.

If you were a female coach would you want to work at PDA? I think not. Not fun to be around arrogant old men that never played women’s soccer, never played in college or even went to college and never played at a high level. its Ironic that not a single past pda female player has gone to coach there- that says it all.

From a statistical perspective, it's reasonable to assume that there are fewer qualified women since they make up a disproportionally smaller proportion of coaches relative to their proportion of the general population. This is not racist, it is statistics. I don't have the statistical breakdown of coaches who are POC, but from my D's experience at another ECNL club, there are actually more coaches that are POC than white male, so you might be correct that PDA discriminates. In either case, assuming coaches are or aren't qualified based on their gender and/or skin color is just a bad idea.

Also, to say "all woman and POC coaches are highly qualified" is statistically highly unlikely.

Fwiw, the first PDA team my D ever played against (PDA South AJAX (birth year 2002)) had a female coach.

What’s wrong with men screaming at little girls? Have to say not all coaches at PDA do butt have seen more then one be over the top. Why do parents allow this?

And yet we still have a disproportionate amount of white male coaches. I got news for you buddy, the bar isn’t too high for youth soccer coaches. It’s not like all these white male coaches are the model of perfection.

Uneducated men from Europe treating these young girls like peasants. Disgraceful to let your girls be treated that way

Dunno. She was there for 2 years and then they switched coaches. I figured they just did what a lot of ECNL clubs do and rotate coaches on teams every two years. But as mentioned, D was at a different club in their conference so didn’t know the inner workings at PDA.

At the ECNL level, the bar is indeed a little higher than the majority of youth soccer clubs. USSF B license at least for ECNL (at least that’s what the league requires).
