CSA got into GA Champions League because of their record last year. It’s that simple. Just like how the real Champions League is run.

CL for GA is determined by all team rankings for a club in a division. GA has the CL setup as club v club with 2 wild card teams from all divisions. CSA just happened to have some better older teams last year which put them a head. The club v club CL is dumb as it allows a middle of the pack club entry while a lot better teams in multiple ages get snubbed.

The GA, which by all accounts, is far behind ECNL in NJ. Why in the world would you then add so called lower level clubs? That would inherently water down the talent pool. I get parents think it’s great bc their club may have gotten into a league but they should have taken their talented kids to one of the GA’s existing teams and combined talent to make better teams.

This doesn’t make the GA any better. What a shame.

Wrong. If you used individual team records yes but not club-wide nonsense.

But this has been the same for GDA and now GAL - clubs that have been added since the inaugural year have been successively weaker. More is not better but GAL seems to think market share matters.

Less travel and good but not great competition with equally as good recruiting channels is highly appealing to parents. Their the customers

GAL has way better college coach exposure. As the league weakens more it may not remain that strong, but the appeal of large easy to shop national events is a big advantage over EDP. There's more player depth for coaches to look at

It has equal exposure to ECNL. I would like to see if the recruitment percentages from each league change over the next couple of years.

Change? Agree the exposure for GA is greater to every other league other than ECNL. Truth be told if these GA Clubs were given the option to move to ECNL they all would do it in a “NJ minute”. That’s all you need to know about equal exposure. The vast majority of players getting recruited are ECNL players in the top college teams. GA will always be those secondary players in those top leagues.

PDA Blue is likely the top rated ECNL team in the country. Is it fair to compare them in the GA/ECNL debate in NJ? I mean ECNL will win the NJ debate every time in NJ. We all know that. Wouldn’t a comparison with PDA South or MF be a better comparison. Or a comparison of the divisions for this area? I mean TSJ likely rivals PDA Blue. Thoughts?

Level matters as well - face it more GAL players are mid to lower level D1/D3 players vs ECNL. Nothing wrong with that, there are countless opportunities for college play. But if a player is a top half D1 prospect then they should only consider GAL if its one of the few remaining GAL clubs. There aren't many of those.

Also nationally ECNL > GAL. Sure in each region there's 1-2 GAL clubs that can readily compete with ECNL teams, but past those top two clubs at most, most of the others would struggle in ECNL except vs the bottom two ECNL clubs. Local options will of course vary wildly so pick the best option in your area regardless of the patch

Please provide source that GA players aren’t playing P5 D1. Your claim sounds dubious.
