So you're basically saying ECNL is aiming as a team. about player recruitment and not player development. [/QUOTE]
What exactly is player development to a TS parent? What clubs do you know properly develop players. This is without a doubt one of the big arguments by TS parents about PDA. Curious to hear this from parents who never played or attended a soccer match till their daughters started playing. Do you think training 3 days a week for 1.5 hours per session is solid training? When you have 2 or more teams sharing the field or 1/2 the field. TS parents have no concept of what training means. Training in soccer is about individual development in a group setting. Think about that, if you have 20 players all training and playing together doing the exact same drills. The three better athletes who show athleticism, speed & quickness will develop quicker and stand out vs the other players even though they are training as a team. Well those few better athletes will go to PDA to further develop their physical and mental toughness vs. similar players who also moved to PDA. That’s called advanced development for this highly competitive group. That’s what ECNL is about. To further develop the players who developed faster playing at other clubs.

Okay. Let us go with that thought process. If they were good at development, wouldn't they be able to develop their own players. Many ECNL teams are unrecognizable by HS. Are you suggesting they can only continue to develop highly talented girls? Finally, if they were so good at development of highly talented players, why don't they have most of their girls going to P5 schools? Wouldn't that skill in development help those already highly talented girls be propelled that much higher?

Okay lets go through that comment. Yes they can develop. Other clubs can develop as well. The ECNL clubs will take the very best soccer players that show up. Just bc so called develop is occurring it doesn’t however take into account that players who have more abilities won’t show up at a later time. Development doesn’t guarantee a player to be the best at a certain position, there is a certain ceiling every player has. P5 schools have a lot to choose from. PDA puts players in p5 schools. They have been representing in the uswnt for about 30 years now. From Heather Oreilly to Tobin Heath and now Casey Murphy.

I think if you are looking for superior game intelligence and creativity, you are always going to be pretty disappointed with girls soccer. I hate to say it, but the female game is not played that way and the coaches who do not emphasize it in the zone 1 years are to blame. Instead we make physicality overly important and then when the girls are 16 years old we complain that they play an overly athletic, physical style. Thats what happens when those are the players who get pushed forward at 10 and 11. It is hard to break the mold, too since in the end the clubs get judged on wins and college placements and we can face the fact that NCAA D1 women's soccer is a really fast, physical HS game. Lots of games are on ESPN+ and it is rarely pretty.

It's not just athleticism, although a player needs to have a certain level of speed and quickness. At the HS age, players should be learning tactical awareness and increasing their mental speed of play. They should be scanning the field constantly and finding open space and knowing how to make proper runs. I don't see that very often from PDA, but I could be seeing the wrong teams

As for Select, they have even less chance. The owner is at odds with basically 3/4 of the clubs in MA and teams have fled NEP for EDP to get away. 0.0% chance.

It may make for more competitive games locally but it would make the teams weaker nationally. They probably should actually reduce the ECNL teams bc it’s getting quite watered down already.

They aren't watered down, in fact they are some of the best teams in the nation. A few more clubs like STA, SJEB, NEFC and SSS would only force the other clubs to do better. That and an actual relegation system. A lot of these clubs have stagnated and bank on the patch to bring in the players.

Hahaha, your too funny with your comments. Another TS parent who knows what makes a great player. Having kids playing at a high level in college and watching them along with their teams taught me a lot. The level of play of womens college soccer is about your pay grade. What exactly is mental speed of play?
