In NJ, there are 2 teams with the badge. I wouldn't have my daughter play for either one of them.

That's because she's not good enough.

Lol. Sure, or, maybe, I actually care about my daughter. I would never let DB coach her. PDA has some decent coaches, but many of the girls and parents are toxic. It can be an unhealthy environment

cant do both NEFC and SSS. You could do NEFC + NYSC and then you'd have 2x FC Stars and NEFC/Scorpions as travel partners, you could keep WC and NYSC as partners and then the LI teams and CT teams remain as well. Bump PDA White and there you would have an evenly distributed New England conference with good club in dense player pool geographies.

Every club and coach is different. Every team's kids and parents are different. Too many parents deal in generalities when thinking about which club is best for their kid. Take them to a few practices. Talk to the coach and the parents. Ask your kid what she thinks about the kids. There is a team for every kid and helping them choose that team is a hard job.

Why not Shore? They have the talent across age groups.

This is true, but when you hear it from other parents from a few age groups, you would rather play it safe. You won't get a true feel of the club from a few practices, in my opinion.

I would like to chime in here…. The environment might be toxic on some teams. But that could come with any team regardless of club with a so called badge. You get paranoid parents who pit parents and players against each other like it’s a game of “survival.” I believe it comes with the territory. But in reality there are only so many spots on a squad. So it could get catty

Agreed. However, in my experience, it is also on the coach of that team. They often notice it and don't say anything.

Very true. A few practices are hard to get the 100% truth, but it will give you at least a gut feeling. I've heard too many parents make claims about particular teams but know nothing about them really. Obviously if you receive disturbing information about a specific coach and/or team, then you should beware.

To some parents they see ECNL like a Dunkin Donuts with franchises throughout the State. ECNL was formed with the idea of “less is better “. It was never about parent convenience of less travel and more competition within the State. ECNL was formed by the most successful and competitive clubs in all four regions. Clubs like PDA were tired of traveling 2 hours and beating teams 6-0. They would rather travel 2 hours to play other competitive clubs in a league format. The idea was for an ECNL Club attract all the best talent in the area/vicinity and to train and compete in one place. That’s the goal of ECNL. To attract the best players of equal ability at one club. The last thing ECNL would want is to have a lack of depth on each roster. No doubt now that they have 3 teams at every age group along with Matchfit the quality has gone down. This idea of further expansion by some wishful thinking TS parents would be further dilution of the talent pool.

So you're basically saying ECNL is about player recruitment and not player development.

No. However, many attempt to say otherwise

I think what they are trying to do is attract the best talent and continue the development. While clubs do attract girls from other teams development doesn’t just stop. That’s a false narrative people place on ecnl clubs
