I’m honestly curious how this is presented by the coach to the team parents which they then “vote” on going or not. We know RT loves Disney so naturally he wants to go, but you’re not playing high quality teams, so it’s not like that is a selling point. Is he just selling a trip to Disney for his teams?

Do you really think Tetro is saying "Hey, want to go to a tournament in Disney with crappy teams?" He is selling it as the World Cup of talent and you get to see Mickey too. He preys on naive parents who know nothing about soccer and who think their kids are Alex Morgan.

I wouldn’t say I care. I would say I am curious. What is the selling point of the tournament for people? I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt but when people are defensive about something like this it usually means they realize maybe a little of what is being said is accurate.

Not at all. But if you read much of the thread, there's a lot of blind hate. So people get tired of it. I don't think there's a sell at all. People join those teams and know they travel, very upfront about it. So I don't think there's a sell. These people like it, some don't. But the ones that hate him are loud and probably going to attack this post.

Ok so that’s it I guess. Traveling to tournaments just to say you traveled to a tournament. I personally think RT should never coach youth sports but I also don’t repeatedly post about it. It’s not hate. It’s accurate.

Different poster but yes clubs are generally upfront about what events they will go to (assuming they're accepted) and the teams usually will have a history of going to certain events. Well established events can also be easily investigated on their quality. None of this is new news and families decide accordingly. Only they can decide if they "were taken"

It was presented that he was planning to go to Disney over President’s Day weekend and asked the managers of each team to talk to parents to get a sense if they wanted to do the tournament. If a team was interested they were in the “probably going” category. Then as we got closer the club asked for each player that wanted to go to commit financially, and if you weren’t going to let the team know. For the 2010 team, we knew about the intent to go at tryouts last year so had plenty of time to decide.

The quality of this tournament seems to have diminished in recent years. Tophat, Jacksonville Armada, Michigan Hawks, Sunrise Prime FC and other top clubs were in every bracket a few years back.

He is doing the exact same tournaments he did with the 2009’s but is unable to recognize that the quality of the tournament is not the same as it was with the 09’s years ago. It’s definitely more of a low level tournament, which is fine if the intent is to go and dominate and play in Disney. Also a lot of these parents suffer from FOMO.

Agreed it isn't as good as it used to be, but that also doesn't mean those going don't have a good experience or had a gun pointed at their heads to go

Maybe the team just wants to go to Disney because it will be an enjoyable trip for their family, not always about the trophy. Just looking to have a good time. Why is everything always so negative on this forum?

So many people assuming the families are unhappy with their situation. Ultimately they're the ones to decide if the event or the entire year was a bad experience, not others. If there's an exodus to other teams for next year you have your answer
