Of course not always - maybe they hate the coach or a new coach is coming in and is likely to clean house. Sometimes it's about academic fit too. But for most it's about being on a team they will play on.

So maybe the original choice of school was wrong bc they thought they would play or or even just play. If your playing 10-15/game , that’s not enough for a competitive player who chose D1 in the first place.
Good players want to play unless you are the TS Dad that's daughter likes to sit on the bench of a top school....but lets not start that debate again.

Well, since you started it up, can you show a post where someone likes to sit on the bench?

My kid doesn’t play for Rutgers but I will chime in from her perspective. She was always the best, or one of, on mid to poor teams. When she was being recruited she was firm: Did not want to go into a team and start right away. She wanted to be on the best team she could (yes academics location finances etc) and have to work for it.

She got her wish. Her team will make noise in the thr NCAA’s and she hasn’t played much as a first year. She’s ok with it, for now. Probably even next year but by year 3 I expect something different

Its tougher on me than on her right now.

she could be playing on crappy teams but not what she wanted

It means she is OK with it, not that she likes it. That she realizes to be the best, she wants to beat the best.

I see the words: "didn't want to be on a crappy team", "work for it", "OK with it, for now", "Probably even next year, but by year 3 I expect something different".

In what world does someone read that, and think "this person likes it"?

Are you a good representative of the cranial density of all NJ posters, or are you the outlier?

She obviously likes being at a big name school more than playing

Yep, but not PA. But, you can continue to try to make an incorrect statement, and will continue to be called out for being an idiot.

                        Keep at it, simpleton.

Not the op but it sounds like his kid stretched herself soccer wise, possibly above her weight class. If she doesn't start getting more meaningful time sophomore year she could be in trouble. There's fighting for PT bs struggling for PT.

Yes she stretched herself. That was the entire point.

Student=athletes transfer for many reasons that’s why the transfer portal is filled with thousands of players. Only a small percentage will successfully transfer because they are known players from highly successful schools both academically and because of the success of the soccer program. The vast majority will either have zero or have to accept less money, less academics and less quality of soccer just to play. Is it worth it for 2-3 years? It’s sad & pathetic when I read a TS parent say”it’s tougher on me than her right now”. That is so wrong on so many fronts and shows you how damaging these parents can be who live vicariously thru there daughters soccer. These kids now have to live with the added pressure of a parent who is disappointed they are not living to their parents expectations. These players understand the reality that they are just not good enough and they learn to deal with this reality. Unfortunately you have parents who lack the maturity to be supportive of their daughter whatever “they” decide. The transfer portal is a lifeline for a very few good players and the end of the road for the vast majority. TS parents will always find an excuse for someone else to blame.
