What may or may not be there is purely speculation, but what we probably can be assured, the RNC didn't have their thumb on the scale to see Trump their nominee. The additional difference between the RNC and the DNC is the RNC took the advise of the FBI and DHS.

Obamas EC wins followed his substantial popular vote victories.

Certainly engineering an EC victory through the Russian actions we are learning about daily is far more limited in scope and therefore plausible than gaming an entire populace.

This is why we will be asking for hand counted ballots and popular vote driven elections from now on.
