Bennett (CO) may need to vote for him. Home state.

Good luck finding four more. Will have to go nuclear

    Proceed guvnor ....walk that plank

You've been explaining politics for 8 years, TeeHeeMan and every time you do it's been wrong.

I don't have any problem at all with Republicans going nuclear. The Supreme Court will be conservative as a result for decades to come. What you don't get is that a lot of people held their nose and voted for Trump simply for that reason.

It's the law of the land and Dems own it. If Republicans were like scumbag Democrats they ought to consider holding off any effort to solve that problem. Let it go down in flames.

A Quick Guide to the Three-Ring Circus of Scandals
            By Charles Lipson
            April 03, 2017

            1. The first—Russian interference—should concern all Americans, regardless of party. Our democracy depends on free, fair, and open elections, with no interference by foreign citizens or governments.

            2. The second issue—possible Trump collusion with Russia—is obviously related to the Kremlin’s overall involvement, but it is distinct. The Democrats have deliberately blurred the lines between Russian involvement and Trump collusion, and so have many commentators. The effect is to claw away at the legitimacy of Trump’s presidency, something he is capable of doing all by himself. The Democrats’ goals are increasingly clear. As the chairman of their national committee, Tom Perez, said last week, Trump “didn’t win this election.” That charge ought to chill the soul of every American. Vladimir Putin has succeeded in casting doubt on a democratic election and thus on constitutional governance (with the help of Democrats and the liberal media, I might add).

Russia’s efforts to develop financial ties to powerful figures follow the same pattern. Persistent leaks suggest such ties to senior Trump officials. Such influence-buying, whether by Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, or U.S. corporations, is, alas, common practice—and one that rightly troubles voters. That’s why the enormous speaking fees paid to the Clintons and donations to their foundations were so controversial. But even if the Russians did develop these financial ties to Trump associates, and even if their goal was to buy influence, those are not proof they worked together to influence the election.

            3. Finally, now appearing in the third ring, is President Trump’s tweet that the Obama White House “wiretapped” him. The term is old-fashioned (no one wiretaps anymore), and the claim is typically inflated. But that does not mean it is bunk.

The serious charge is that the Obama White House deliberately spied on Trump officials. The spying was presumably directed at foreign targets but inevitably swept up Trump officials, perhaps inadvertently, perhaps not.

Names of surveilled Americans are required by law to be kept secret, but at least one, that of future National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, was divulged. That’s a felony, and only a high-level official could have done it (since the information was very tightly held).

Goresuch for Scalia. Arguably AS conservative as before. And next pres gonna get whoever they want.

Don't think GOresuch a done deal yet. Could be but just like Russia there might be some GOP congressman who decide they like reelection better than going down with the good ship trump .

Supreme Court nominee is well qualified and within the broad judicial mainstream.

Our custom on the Editorial Board is to evaluate Supreme Court nominees based on their academic and legal credentials, personal integrity, position within the broad judicial mainstream and respect for legal precedent (which should be healthy but not mindless).

Gorsuch’s credentials are impeccable: Columbia, Harvard, Oxford, federal and Supreme Court clerkships and a decade on the federal appeals bench. He received a “well-qualified” rating, the highest available, from the American Bar Association. On principles and independence, he has gotten an array of glowing references, including from some Democrats and liberals. Extensive vetting has unearthed no hint of personal scandal.

As for his judicial philosophy, the 49-year-old judge from Colorado would not be on our short list for the high court. While in the broad mainstream, he veers too close to the right bank for our taste, particularly on issues involving discrimination, government protection of the powerless and, presumably, reproductive rights. But he is no fire-breathing extremist....Gorsuch's record on the bench suggests that, on some key issues, he might well show the independence the nation needs at this moment in its history.

This was written by a liberal at the very liberal Salon last July when libs were sure Clinton would be the next president.

The next president will likely appoint 4 Supreme Court justices: Who do you want picking them?

This election is all about the Supreme Court that will shape our lives for the next 30 years

                  http://www.salon.com/2016/07/29/the_..._them_partner/

"During the next four years, the new president will likely nominate not only Scalia’s replacement but also an additional three new justices. Since 1971, the average age of retirement for a Supreme Court justice has been just under 79 years. Ginsburg is 83, Kennedy is 80, and Breyer will be 78 in mid-August."

Ginsburg should have retired during the Obama years. At least that was what all the lefties have been saying. Too late now!

Liberals use the word “hacked” because they can claim they only mean “influenced” while implying to stupid people inclined to believe their conspiracy theories that the Russians broke into computers and changed votes from Hillary to Donald. Even James Comey agrees that never happened, so now the Democrats are claiming that Russian social media bots used fake news to trick the previously Hillary-inclined electorate into voting against her. Remember that when the media gets angry about the emails, the reason is that you got accurate information about the media’s partisan pals that the media wanted hidden from you. There you go. The problem with Democrats. They depended on identity politics for so long to keep them in power and that has backfired. Calling people names, like "deplorables" backfired. And now this. It was a Democrat mantra that those who voted Republican were voting against their self interests, but the fact of the matter is that people DO vote their own self interest and what Democrats have been offering no longer represent the needs of a significant portion of the American population that doesn't live in the high population areas on both coasts.
