"Blacks that live in America in 2016 have the highest standard of living compared to nearly any other country in the world if they lived there."

Don't you hate it that those people don't know how good they have it?

I admittedly didn't grow up in a diverse area. I fortunately went to a city high school, where there was diversity and I met more than the vanilla folks I grew up with. I was glad I did - and why I fought the new HS being built in our town (which no longer votes Republican, mostly democrat, since being overrun by MA folks...the irony).

So, I have had to learn a lot. I play ball with someone who emigrated from an African nation while young, grew up impoverished in a MA inner city. He experienced it first hand.

theHis take, and I've talked to at length: People like me are not the problem, and never were. My kids won't grow up like I did. My kids are the new black, they do NOT experience what I did, because I won't let m and I won't let it define them. He is a college grad, got his masters, and is a school principal.

No whining from him. Got dealt lemons, and made vodka and lemonade.
No, every white man does not need to pay for the sins of their father, but to DENY those sins either existed at all or still exist is a continuation of the same sin. To deny the pervasive and generation affect that those sins have had is shallow.

Blacks have had to fight well into the 1960's for basic rights, and they are still fighting for fair treatment with a simple traffic stop. We have not come as far as you would like to believe and that this is even being discussed in 2016 is proof that African Americans at the most fundamental level are still viewed as other.

That you need to say this "My kids are the new black, they do NOT experience what I did, because I won't let m and I won't let it define them." says we still have a problem in this country.

great reason to keep and build on a good things that ACA / Obama CARE is doing

*Y*O*U may have seen more racial strife, but everyone involved keeps trying to educate you that this environment of race persecution has changed trivially from 1960, 70, 80, 90 and even into the 21st Century! a travesty indeed.

I'll let you mull over this one. I don't own property on the coast that will be destroyed within the next two decades then it's my kids problem.
        Where's the 99 % middle class in that ?
Keep ACA? maybe. Build, maybe not , the foundation is flawed. Can't build on a flawed foundation.
Changed " trivially " ??? We haven't seen the crime and destruction of such scale for quite some time. Watts riots, Crown Heights , Detroit and Newark in flames.

If you are living on the coast, who in their deranged mind would think that having a large body of water as your front yard would be free from any incidents ? It is absolute lunacy to keep rebuilding. Cities like New Orleans are BELOW sea level. Even animals are smart enough to make their homes in such areas.

          Burn It Down!!!

As Motion Picture Academy members cast their ballots for Oscar nominations this week, the biggest issue for many voters isn’t about who might be nominated but about the diversity of this year’s acting class.

Their fear: The hashtag #OscarsSoWhite will be trending on social media again.
The academy found itself on the defensive last year when white actors earned all 20 of the nominations in the lead and supporting categories.
The topic came to define the Academy Awards so much that host Neil Patrick Harris opened the ceremony by quipping: “Tonight we honor Hollywood’s best and whitest. Sorry, brightest.”
Yet there’s a strong chance this year’s acting awards will once again be heavily, perhaps exclusively, white, despite the efforts of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to diversify the organization.
“If it’s all-white again, nobody’s going to be happy and there might be a growing perception that the academy is out of touch,”

This is so disturbing but yet hopeful as there mustn't be much else going on in the world.

Slave owners said those same reassuring words. Why are Blacks that live in America's standard of living compared to other parts of the world? Why is it not compared to an American standard of living?

Who here is denying what our ancestors did? I mean, why stop there? I'm pretty ticked about the Crusades, too. And, what's with parting the Red Sea and leaving some behind, Moses? Noah, you animal...I know you warned them but you should've made a bigger boat for everyone.

Imperialist Japan, you're next. I expect an apology for you for killing my great grandfather.

And, hey, you Sioux....you attacking the Cherokee over a landgrab was just bad business. Pay up.

While we're at it, Cro-Magnon Man, acting all tough with your tools, wiping away Neanderthal Man off the face of the earth. Who made you boss? Survival of the fittest my tailpipe. Pay up.

                  //////

And, so we're clear, his kids do NOT experience anything other than idiots. Can't save the world from idiots, but lord I've tried.....

Because the post being responded to was indicating their struggle based on the past. America has made tremendous progress , as the growing number of Blacks with College degrees, good jobs and movement up the socio-economic scale show. Could there be improvement, yes of course, despite the Progressives actions to keep them as victims .

Can any other country in the world show those gains ?

Why are "progressives (lower p)" always trying to make it about race?

I thought this was about some "fans" in Turkey booing a moment of silence to respect innocent lives lost?

Soooo, because their standard of living is better than elsewhere in the world but still below the standard in their home country you consider that to be a victory or equality?

I mean, seriously if only their loser dads would stick around and raise their own kids right? I mean, it's not like we systematically destroyed any culture or family life by silly little things like selling family members. I mean it isn't our fault that the concept of family was completely destroyed by slave owners for generations. What possible long term effect of something as simple as selling dad have on future generations.

How is it our fault that less than 50 years ago they had to drink from separate water fountains? Certainly my grandparents disagreed with such treatment right?
Irony is thick on this one. You are commenting on a Massachusetts soccer board which is made up almost entirely of rich, white people. You should put your house up for sale, move the wife and kids to Roxbury, send your kids to public school, and have them quit club soccer and play pick up with the neighborhood kids. Put your money where your mouth is. You have a lot of white guilt. The cure is on Blue Hill Ave. Go for it!
