Or......someone armed, and trained, could de-escalate an actual mortal consequence by making sure one of the good guys are armed when a bad guy decides to do harm to innocent people. Your base assumption is that guns are bad because people with guns are trigger happy.

I do not own a gun, but I know people that do, and they take their gun ownership very, very, seriously. They are the least likely people to introduce a firearm into a situation that it is not warranted. Same for Cops. If you talk to most Cops, they may have unholstered their weapon a few times in their career and a vast majority have never fired it, because they did not need to.

The left's obsession with guns is similar to the Christian right's obsession with abortion and gay marriage. A bunch of wasted energy and effort and totally misplaced assumptions on things that will likely never change anyway.
