when women see stories like this it's no wonder so many don't go to the cops or drop charges. guy kidnaps a woman, strangles and assaults her and gets no jail time. What the actual fuk? as a parent what am I supposed to tell my daughter? well, I know what to tell her but what she sees contradicts a lot of it - women not taken seriously, shamed, no punishment, sometimes decades for something to happen like cosby?

As a woman, I'm a bit concerned that it maybe a myth that women are unwilling to tell anyone when an assault occurs. I know that I would certainly tell someone. I might be reluctant to tell my parents or go to the police under certain circumstances, but you can be sure at the very least I would have confided in a friend. I can't believe that I am an outlier on this.

She didn't tell anyone for years and she had a very loving, supportive family. Many women do not have that support or enough courage to come forward. Predators tend to target women who are vulnerable.
