Also, let’s be clear what a “commit” is because the term seems to get thrown around and confused with scholarship/NLI signing. A commit means that you’ve stopped looking around and picked a school that is interested in you so that other schools don’t officially continue to recruit you. It’s likely there isn’t any money involved because many don’t get much, if any, scholarships. It means nothing than your word because many de-commit or re-commit. Since it’s coming from the player, it doesn’t mean you are guaranteed a spot or playing time. The coach might decide he/she doesn’t need you or you might not even get into the school if your HS grades don’t cut it. It would be better if clubs only listed NLI signings or could provide $ amounts for athletic scholarships, but then again that would reduce the number of “commits” they could advertise.

Serious question, is ANY player from Braintree committed?

Most of these comments are nit-picking his choice of words in order to silence his message. D1 is an unreachable dream for most players. I think his intent was to help people manage expectations and stop forcing the issue. How many kids struggle in club settings and it always the coaches fault or the other kids were mean, etc. People just need to relax a bit.

I wonder why Mr. Smith didn't mention South Shore Select or Bolts when he was highlighting local club options?

These D3 schools have plenty of merit and need based scholarships to give out, you just have to be well rounded enough to warrant it.
Not all of the D3 schools have merit money to give out. Merit $ doesn't even exist for the NESCAC schools, only need-based $'s (i.e., you're poor). Get your facts straight if you're going to be in the lecture business.
