They definitely are commits, but make no mistake .... if bolts is selling this as something great, they and you are mistaken. No money, kids could have committed to almost all of these schools if they can play decently in HS. Sorry. not an impressive list.

Sure Skippy. Keep calling me names if it makes you feel better. I hope your kids have their mother’s brains and personality

Sorry I touched a nerve moron. How old is your kid? Maybe 14 at the most. You have that U-little know it all feel.

I looked for the Commonwealth FC page but couldn't find it.

Obviously Mr. Smith's organization did a horrible job with skill building or BHS would have college commits. Everyone should probably flock to clubs just to get better at soccer. Mr. Smith can't build a foundation.

I would have to agree that your "tip" expectation is overrated. Obviously these kids got in because of their GPA and having them play soccer makes them more well rounded to the school. Playing for the Bolts does not make them any more attractive to these D3 schools than playing varsity for Braintree High. Sorry to burst your bubble.

So you are a bit out of touch, D3 does recruit "Student Athletes", the higher Academic start with the student and then look for the highest level athlete. Playing at Bolts would certainly get you looked at more than Braintree High, just as Thayer Academy would also. These D3 schools have plenty of merit and need based scholarships to give out, you just have to be well rounded enough to warrant it.

I’d assume most varsity high school players have had some exposure to club soccer beyond town travel soccer. Maybe BHS players play club for Bolts, NEFC, Stars, etc. It’s not like every kid who plays for one of those clubs gets recruited. In fact, probably most don’t; it’s not like every HS player wants to go and play in college.

Also, let’s be clear what a “commit” is because the term seems to get thrown around and confused with scholarship/NLI signing. A commit means that you’ve stopped looking around and picked a school that is interested in you so that other schools don’t officially continue to recruit you. It’s likely there isn’t any money involved because many don’t get much, if any, scholarships. It means nothing than your word because many de-commit or re-commit. Since it’s coming from the player, it doesn’t mean you are guaranteed a spot or playing time. The coach might decide he/she doesn’t need you or you might not even get into the school if your HS grades don’t cut it. It would be better if clubs only listed NLI signings or could provide $ amounts for athletic scholarships, but then again that would reduce the number of “commits” they could advertise.

You live in a fantasy world. If you are on the right Bolts team(or NEFC) it definitely makes you more attractive to coaches than any BHS player. I believe EVERY class of 2021 player on the Bolts top team and NEFC top team is committed to a college team next year.

Serious question, is ANY player from Braintree committed?

Most of these comments are nit-picking his choice of words in order to silence his message. D1 is an unreachable dream for most players. I think his intent was to help people manage expectations and stop forcing the issue. How many kids struggle in club settings and it always the coaches fault or the other kids were mean, etc. People just need to relax a bit.

Do BYS families each get to interview their BYS coach before the season?

I wonder why Mr. Smith didn't mention South Shore Select or Bolts when he was highlighting local club options?

His focus was on "low cost" options. Not sure why the obsession by him and the CFC crowd on how others spend their money. All of the most talented girls in travel soccer have left these clubs. Not sure any will play D1, but there are a handful that could play in college if that is what they want and if soccer helps them get in or motivates them then go for it.

Since you're using the "out of touch" line, let me remind you how OUT OF TOUCH you appear to be...

Not all of the D3 schools have merit money to give out. Merit $ doesn't even exist for the NESCAC schools, only need-based $'s (i.e., you're poor). Get your facts straight if you're going to be in the lecture business.
