Enough is enough. Other countries have crushed the virus and are almost back to business as usual while we still have the virus raging. We need to fight back effectively immediately.
The US is struggling but it is NOT alone. Europe has had a huge surge, England is dealing with a unique new strain. France has had anti-mask riots/demonstrations on par with ours.

The scientists said all along that this would be seasonal. Cases dropped as the temperature rose, cases are rising as the temperature drops.

He didn’t “deliver” anything other than millions of virus cases and 320,000 dead Americans. Pharmaceutical and biotech companies have been working on vaccines for decades and specifically on coronavirus vaccines ever since SARS a decade ago. It’s not like they came up with all this technology in 10 months. Pfizer didn’t even take a dime of government funding in the last 10 months to develop its Covid-19 vaccine. Trump would take credit for the sun rising every morning if he could. Truth is he did nothing. If you want to praise someone for the vaccine, praise the scientists that worked in the vaccine and infectious disease field for the last 30-40 years like Fauci.

The “Pfizer” vaccine wasn’t actually developed by Pfizer. The vaccine technology was developed by BioNTech, a German company. Pfizer stepped up to partner with them for production and distribution. No government funding. I find it funny when Trump claims credit for that vaccine.

Yes, but the scientist also said this didn’t have to happen if you REALLY locked down, religiously wore masks and practiced social distancing, and did contact tracing. It NEVER needed to be this bad. Look at Asia where all this supposedly started. China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, New Zealand, etc. are all pretty normal with few cases now because they did what was needed. They had experience with SARS and H1N1 to take things seriously. US and Europe are too politically divided and unequal to deal with it.

As this devolves into Shiites vs. Muslims... We are going to Sanford. Feel fine doing it.
We will take all of the appropriate precautions (mask, no groups, etc) for our safety and that of others - just as we do here.

I understand others feel differently. I expect the chances of changing your mind are the same as you changing mine. No need to debate it

They had leaders that took it seriously, listened to scientists and communicated with their citizens about doing the right thing. We have a toddler in the WH who never took it seriously, told his fans it's "no big deal, like the flu" and turned wearing a mask into a political statement.

Yes there is need to debate it because so many of us have buried friends and family. A covid death is a lonely ugly business.

BioNTech developed the mRNA technology for drug delivery (actually under license from UPenn researchers that discovered it 20+ years ago, which Moderna also licensed from them). Originally, BioNTech wanted to use the technology for cancer drug delivery, but couldn’t make it work so they turned to something simpler like vaccines about 10 years ago. But they needed Pfizer’s experience with vaccines to develop something quickly for Covid. Plus Pfizer has deeper pockets for drug discovery in addition to its own production and distribution network (which Moderna doesn’t have). As you said, laughable that Trump would claim any part in developing vaccines.

Religious divide nonetheless. Nothing is grounded in logic

Oh nevermind. I didn't realize that since you have been to a Covid funeral, you think your holding a Trump card to invalidate other’s logic. What you don’t know is I raise you my 81 year old mom who has breast cancer and is in middle of aggressive chemo. I live vulnerable situations everyday. How OUR family manages her vulnerability is OUR responsibility. Somehow you think its now a problem for everyone else, because you went to a funeral? Who's the selfish one?

Are you that thick? Do you really think anyone thinks Trump deserves credit for the vaccine itself. He deserves credit for the incentives for Pfizer to form the partnership and acceleration of approvals to get it to market at record pace, and facilitating distribution assistance. Jeeesh

Most countries in this world have healthcare systems that provide for their citizens. In the richest country in the world, healthcare is for profit, not for people. You obviously have been brainwashed by corporate propaganda into thinking that’s the way it should be.

Your mother isn't just vulnerable to whomever is in her bubble. She's exposed to nurses, docs and staff during her treatment. If she didn't have a big support network you she might have to do more of her errands herself. The more cases are raging in the area the worse her risks become. She probably has even had delays because of Covid protocols. If everyone was doing their part to protect your mother, not just your family, she and thousands of others wouldn't have to be so isolated. What we do as individuals impacts many others.
