    Chargeback

What if everyone just called their credit card companies and did a chargeback for spring payments made to their clubs? If no services were rendered the card companies will stand by the consumer always. The onus will be on the clubs to challenge the chargebacks and prove that they rendered the services sold. If the clubs faced hundreds or thousands of these at once, they wouldn't be able to challenge them.

    Could work.

Of course, you'd need to be looking for a new Club come Fall so while you are doing that, be looking for a Club who won't be filing for bankruptcy if they all have to return their spring fees.

I would cut you and little Mia's butt faster than you'd recoup that fee.

Obviously, little Mia would be going elsewhere in this scenario, because her club would be filing for bankruptcy.

So you are admitting that you would take money, offer no service, not offer refunds, and then take it out on the child when the parents insisted on getting their money back? I am assuming you work for GPS?

The credit card company would refund you, then try to recoup the costs from the Club. If they can't, it goes as a loss and the credit card company loses out. If it happens enough, they start to raise rates, change loyalty programs, etc. They would also refuse to let the Clubs use their services, which would mean in the future we'd need an alternative way to pay.

Or, the Club pays the fees back to the credit card company if they are able, and deal with other creditors instead.

Agree - it’s unfortunate but I just paid my deposit for the early ECNL offer my daughter got last night. She is committed to D1 and am just going to suck it up and pay. She needs to be on a club team and play and move on to college in 2021.

This is priceless. How many of these "offers" were made recently? Sounds like the only way to get suckers to cough up money in today's world of soccer. The ECNL promise trap.

While we're here, I have some Florida RE up for sale. I can also promise an ECNL roster spot as a bonus. Any takers?

You don’t get my post - there is no trap - my D has been in ECNL for years - she is already committed to a D1 as of last November - playing in ECNL gave her the exposure and her club gave excellent training - early roster offers are common - clubs want to keep the best. Not everyone gets an offer and this year you really want that offer because without the season and tryouts there won’t be much movement. DA players are going to be tough out of luck except for the very very best.
I was saying it’s just unfortunate that there won’t be any refunds but for kids going into senior year the parents just deal with the no refund and move on - certainly not going to make a fuss because we got what we came for - the D1 scholarship.

You can’t charge back after 30 days

Not true at all. My card lets me go back a year.

My club has an absolute No Refund policy which we must agree to prior to registering on 3 different parts of the registration. In addition, they offer insurance for 'acts of god' which would prevent my daughter from completing her season for $125. of course we did not take them up on the offer for insurance, and now we will be sending our deposit for the 20-21 season too. Not ideal, but my daughter also committed to a D1 school and is expected to play with a club team as well this year. It doesn't affect us much, but I am sure others will struggle to make payments this year.

Sorry you are so jaded. It seems the system failed you somehow, and I am sorry for that.
Poster made it very clear he was doing it with total awareness, and from his point of view, services were rendered - she has a D1 Commitment. Maybe that's the disconnect. You don't understand what product ECNL is selling.
