Bingo. Didn’t even consult with the families who have kids in the AP program who will be impacted by this. Arrogant belief that families won’t question what they are told to do. Many of whom are now counting down the days until ECNL tryouts.

Alas last year US Soccer thought they were on top of the Soccer world and did not make the rule that you had to play GDA to be chosen for a NT. Now they are grasping for air and are making that rule. Unfortunately they just don’t have enough great players in the HDA system, because they are still calling up Stars players

Can US soccer mandate what youth league/club a player can play for to be picked for a national team?
That doesn't sound legal for a national team to say we are only picking players only from certain clubs?
Even the men's side is not that stupid to do that.
If GDA made that a rule I would assume they would have to let every club in.
Select is having an ID clinic who is running that? If your bringing your kid there and see some of the select coaches why would you sign up for that?

LL is using fear to sign players and we just quit one of her teams because she was demanding a deposit right now, if we didn’t pay we would be kicked off our current team. I use to be a huge LL fan and so was my daughter, but this was the last straw, good luck to anyone that stays and puts up with this crap.

So many thoughts come to mind if this is true:
1) how could you get kicked off a team that you paid for mid season?
2) it is the first week of April. The spring season just started how are they making people put a deposit without confirmation on who is coaching next season?
3) why would anyone attend tryouts for this club?

U-15 thru U-20 teams are about 90% DA players, although depending on the age group few of them have been in DA more than a few years. Since BDA is 10 yrs old and GDA is only 2, it will take another 5 or 6 years before you see women’s YNT being all GDA players.

This is why SSS is going GDA. LL loves the attention her 2 little NT superstars have brought her club and US Soccer loves SSS after being rejected by the biggest clubs in the region (Stars, etc.). If SSS doesn’t get on the GDA train now, they may not have a shot at adding more players to NT when US Soccer shuts out non-GDA clubs like they’ve done on the boys side already.

Yes. Join this club and your player will go to the NT! That is definitely the best way to decide on a good place for your player.

Part of those BDA numbers is in part because there's far more BDA clubs and BDA doesn't face strong competition from any other league for top talent. In other words, while it's still not a great idea to limit their selections to only BDA at least they're selecting from a much bigger pool. That isn't the case with GDA vs ECNL - there's not only far fewer clubs but many top players chose to remain in ECNL. Also, some GDA clubs are very weak so does it make any sense to limit a top player to a club with poor training? Or around here with some poor competition?
