Few years ago select was great in developing young players once at u14 players left I think because the coaching dropped off. LL did a god job with the u littles but there weren't any good coaches at the older age groups. So what's the difference now? Are there some great coaches over there or are they bringing in some? Which will cost money that I don't think LL wants to pay.
I would like to see them bring in a high level coach and then LL tells him/her to start making pizza.
Good point that coaches for older kids cost more money. I'm sure that played a role, but I view it as something much more simple: College Exposure.

SSS developed and develops the uLittles wonderfully. But playing in MAPLE wasn't enough for players with college goals. SSS gets into NPL, and then it becomes 3rd tier with announce of DA.

I always feel that clubs forget what makes them successful. SSS has always been a club that develops young players and helps them learn to love the game. That is what their forte is. From there players who are more serious about the game, branch off, and those who want to play at a more relaxed pace, have always found SSS to be there home. It Now it seems that SSS is trying to keep their superstars, and are seeking the leagues you need to be in to keep those players, which is perfectly fine, but if the base of your teams are more of the relaxed players, you can never push for the elite leagues

SSS has forgotten themselves, and they are now pushing players to make decisions they do not want to make

What people don’t understand is that they don’t develop that many players. They develop and only care about the top players. Look at results of their elite, second teams this weekend. Low brackets and poor results. Lack of quality coaches and players. How is South Shore Select going to keep players when they are exposed for what they really are, fake crappy coaches that cannot develop players. How do they expect to keep teams in the NPL next year when there AP players will be DA or Scorpions ECNL.

South Shore Select joining DA is laughable

It just shows that US Soccer does not care about the girls. If they were concerned, they would have bent over backwards to keep the bigger clubs in. They are making all kinds of accommodations for the MLS boys teams.

Did SSS or other clubs really have a choice? They're shut out of ECNL (call if mafia call it the league trying to semi-control quality and size, whatever helps you sleep at night). NPL has slipped in quality. If NPL clubs are losing better players to the other two leagues what should they do? They still have to run a business and turn a profit. The problem is that some should stay in NPL. But because USSF cares more about market share, they let in clubs that really aren't up to snuff. Then the clubs, needing to fill rosters, take players that really shouldn't be in a supposed "top" league. If these clubs didn't have DA as an option then they might push harder to try and improve their product and even the league rather than take an easy out but getting a new badge. Or, they re-position themselves. Is being a solid club that provides good training for mid to lower level college players a bad thing? Do it with les travel and less $? I think there's a market for that fi it was something clubs marketed - a league of sanity.

looks like they have GDA director but no coaching staff yet. I know it's early but if you want kids/parents to start thinking about the GDA program would help to have coaches. Please if anyone tells me that the staff they have now can support a GDA program I got some magical rocks to sell you. They will do about the same to get your daughter into the national team.
Best of luck to them but they just to have he staff to actually pull this off as of right now I think.
Last thing where is their home field or training field going to be?

Like you said. It's early. It's freakin' March and you want to know who the coach is BEFORE they even have a tryout?

Pick your battles a little better.

Yes. You should know who is coaching before tryouts or accepting a spot on any roster, not just SSS.

                    Who is Director?

When choosing the right place for your kid, the coach is the most important thing to consider. Only a fool would accept an offer for their kid without know who the coach will be.

Now that they’ve had a taste of the YNT with their two superstars, SSS is hooked and has no choice but to go DA. The window is closing on non-DA clubs sending players to YNT. US Soccer loves to announce how many DA players are on YNT. Boys are almost all DA now and girls will be close within 5 years.

This is the tail wagging the dog but you’ll get lots of training for sure.

Coaches come and go and you shouldn’t have the same coach year after year it breeds complacency and new perspectives are good - you pick the club not the coach; that being said I would never sign up with a new club if I knew that year 1 the coach was a jerk

What is most likely to happen is their coaching stable will remain the same, in theory putting their better coaches in charge of GDA teams. That's what has happened with other GDA clubs. There just aren't that many quality highly licensed coaches out there. Given the shaky ground GDA is on, outside coaches might not be willing to leave their stable positions. At the higher levels most clubs are pretty good about telling families who will be coaching teams. If they don't then you have to look at their supply and decide if you'd be ok with the majority of them and roll the dice.

However, unless they already have their higher licensure none of the SSS coaches will have it a few months later either. BDA took years to comply. The teams won't get an influx of new top players either. They're already in ECNL and don't want GDA, or are already in a GDA club. Some SSS players will leave because they don't want GDA. So basically you're getting a new patch and a very questionable league/coach/team.

The amount of posts on this topics shows incredible insecurity that the ecnl parents posses.
Look at yourselves in the mirror closely and say " I need to stop this".
