She is not getting a DA Scholarship. DA scholarships can not be used for tuition or uniform fees. It is only for travel, and the scholarship amount is $600 per season, so $600 for fall and $600 for spring. All scholarship recipients must complete the assignments. Checks are only sent if the required tasks are completed. To qualify for a scholarship you must submit income verification and must make less than $25,000 combined family income. Not many qualify.

This young lady you talk about is either a tremendous player, or the club did not have enough players to field a team

DA qualifications are one thing. Clubs can also have their own scholarship programs, just like non DA clubs do, either based on their own income qualifications of player desirability

The income cap is comical. In metro areas a family of 4 would struggle for essentials with that the income, let alone afford club soccer, cleats etc. The travel assistance is also barely sufficient considering it has to cover airfare, meals and the player would absolutely have to share a room

Thanks Captain obvious. We are talking about financial need here. In Order to qualify for a financial need based scholarship, one needs to demonstrate financial need. Itherwise, it’s not a financial need scholarship, is it?

I guarantee you that they will not award that money to a non starter regardless of their income so it is skills based and I bet the amount is semi negotiable the more skill a player can demonstrate ..... Picked up by the club or ussf is inconsequential. If you have to ask and they didn't come knocking your door down for your tremendously skilled daughter then you ain't getting a nickel. That is how it works. Ussf guards it's money like Smaug. The less they give away, the more for themselves and their cronies on their huge administration.

I’m well aware in reality that scholarships go to studs, and the financial need aspect is mostly a farce. The clubs just put on a song and dance about “financial need”. These are the same clubs that pressure their members to “fundraise”, saying that it’s for “scholarship”. I call BS.
Paying customers are insulted , when asked to foot someone else’s soccer hobby.

Not tremendous but decent. Team needed players due to high school.

I think folks are more apt to donate to a local venture supporting community players. When you start asking for money to support stuff like plane tickets and hotel people rightly resist. That stuff is not necessary for participation in soccer and it rubs folks the wrong way to be asked for donations for luxury items.

Folks are more likely to donate to homelessness, hunger and cancer research than Hugh end club soccer. Most see club soccer as a luxury item, and think it’s s joke when asked to “donate”. Especially if they e already spend thousands on their own to participate.

I’d only considering donating to an all inclusive, all volunteer program youth program. That’s it. Club Soccer.... puhleeze.

And that right there speaks volumes. Not a tremendous player, taken just because the GDA team did not have enough players. That is GDA. That is not worth dividing the talent more than it is already divided. If GDA only put studs on each team, that would make this crazy mess all worth it. Having 2 players here and 2 players in NY and 2 in NJ, etc does not make sense. GDA should have just stuck with regional training centers

That ship has sailed. Hard to see a good way out of this mess. Maybe colleges could just run some kind of Junior type soccer league and we could all just dispense with the the rest in its entirety.

Has Select even announced this yet? I don’t see nothing on their website.

The announced to AP players. But obviously they are not choosing to announce publically, even though GDA has done it for them already.
