What’s the actual point of the thread to move along to? It seems you just want to give a big public pat on the back to kids for finishing their run with club soccer when in fact most of them didn’t actually grab the brass ring at all. It’s nothing but an extension of everyone gets a trophy but if it makes everyone feel good so be it. Just wondering where the thread is about local kids getting drafted yesterday is, after all isn’t that the real accomplishment we should be patting someone on the back for?

Yeah, because THAT'S the benchmark we all want to use.

The sad part of a thread like this is from strictly a soccer perspective most of the players on this list are looked upon as failures. Sure parents have something to be proud of, but it should be in the same sort of context as the pride when their kid graduates this spring. There’s very few here on a list like this that have an actual shot at turning their youth club soccer experience into any sort of significant soccer career at the collegiate level. Threads like this really just champion those who have the means to throw a whole lot of money at engineering what the parent sees as their kid’s rightful due instead of letting it happen organically. With the sort that start and actively feed threads like this it’s all about top shelf brands instead of quality.
