He was cut at the end of last year. He didn't get to play much, so he might was well enjoy his senior year.

I don’t blame him for leaving. He’ll be playing soccer at a great school. Seems to have achieved his goal. Why stay at academy. Lots of others doing the same. See Conner Haskell, Ryan Clare and others.

It doesn’t sound like MU had a choice if he was cut last year, but your point is well taken. There are many paths.

So the kid was cut. Looking at the stats, he didn’t play much there or at Revs, so there’s no surprise. Moving along. Let’s get back to the thread.

What’s the actual point of the thread to move along to? It seems you just want to give a big public pat on the back to kids for finishing their run with club soccer when in fact most of them didn’t actually grab the brass ring at all. It’s nothing but an extension of everyone gets a trophy but if it makes everyone feel good so be it. Just wondering where the thread is about local kids getting drafted yesterday is, after all isn’t that the real accomplishment we should be patting someone on the back for?

ah the tired trope: "if your kid isn't NT/pro/top D1 full scholarship level you've wasted your money on club soccer"

Cut or left on his own - we know the Revs have their chose ones and the rest get screwed. Many have left and done very well elsewhere.

Cut. I’m surprised he went to ecnl rather than another club.

I know, but now he seems to have refined it to "your kid is no good and you've wasted all your money if your kid doesn't turn pro!"

Yeah, because THAT'S the benchmark we all want to use.

The sad part of a thread like this is from strictly a soccer perspective most of the players on this list are looked upon as failures. Sure parents have something to be proud of, but it should be in the same sort of context as the pride when their kid graduates this spring. There’s very few here on a list like this that have an actual shot at turning their youth club soccer experience into any sort of significant soccer career at the collegiate level. Threads like this really just champion those who have the means to throw a whole lot of money at engineering what the parent sees as their kid’s rightful due instead of letting it happen organically. With the sort that start and actively feed threads like this it’s all about top shelf brands instead of quality.

Interesting point though. I saw at least one local kid got drafted yesterday, it’s quite telling about this place that that wasn’t the first thing heralded today but a thread like this was. Why do you think that is?

I don’t know where you get this from a list of kids who play soccer and colleges. It’s a pretty twisted explanation.
