I just don’t get this. How do you know that PDA and Jeff Cup teams are better? I’m not saying they aren’t, I’m just saying you, and most everybody else, has no idea. Easy to bash good teams in your backyard, but until they play some of these “elite” teams its just speculation. Now if DA and ECNL would get out of the way they could prove you right. My guess is that 07 team would hold their own against 99% of teams in the country

I think NEFC is (right now) the best 2007 team in MA. If you think “they would hold their own against 99% of the teams in the country” you are delusional.

Just look at CT, NY & NJ teams. NEFC has not made it out of their bracket the last two trips to the PDA tournament. Lost 1-4 against TSF and 1-3 against NJ Stallions. Those are not even the best teams in NJ. Likewise NEFC lost 1-0 to PDA at Stars cup this year, not getting out of their bracket. Lost 0-1 to CFC’s B team and the tied them 0-0 within the last 5 months. NEFC has never played Ginga or Clarkstown (who both beat PDA last year). They have never played CFC’s top ECNL team or Match Fit ECNL (who both just beat Select 3-0 & 2-0).

At Jefferson Cup you have all those great teams plus teams from OH, TX, NC. Ever see Solar from TX play? Play a team like that at Jefferson Cup (like Select did losing 1-7) and then come on here and tell us how it goes.

No hate for NEFC. Just the opposite actually, but you need some perspective.

The “ECNL Mafia” is such a cop out. I get it that as a 2007 parent your weren’t paying attention to the DA/ECNL power struggle when the girls were U10, but the truth of the matter is that NEFC, Penn Fusion & Albertsons were ECNL clubs a few short years ago. All three chose to leave for the shiny new toy that was promised. When DA didn’t turn out to be anything better, all three of those clubs sought readmission to ECNL and were denied. The landscape changed. SUSA was added as were the Stars & PDA “White” teams.

I’m no fan of these clubs having two ECNL teams. I’d rather see PF & NEFC instead of PDA & Stars White, but the defections to DA helped create that dynamic. Personally I think Stars Blue & Scorpions would benefit by the third MA team being NEFC instead of Stars White, but that isn’t going to happen, so it is what it is.

NEFC has an excellent 2007 team, but there are a lot of strong teams that you never play because you don’t travel. Go play top flight at Jefferson Cup and you’ll see lots of teams that are just as good and a few that are a notch above. It’s like the Stars or PDA tournament on steroids.

Pretty sure JD was aware of the NEFC-Breakers relationship when NEFC-Breakers was admitted into ECNL. He didn’t stop them then.

So losing 1-0 to PDA, who you hold in high regard, is not “holding their own”. I’m not saying they would win, I’m saying they would be competitive. I, nor you, have any idea how these games went. They beat East Meadow (ho hum) who beat Stallions. I can’t even believe Ive written this much, I’m embarrassed for me. I have no dog in this fight, I just think we don’t give our Northeast teams as much credit as they sometimes deserve....sometimes
