Thinking of defecting......
Top 1/3 player on NPL team, looking for a new home in the ECNL.
Proximity dictates a South Shore club. Before Dad starts interviewing clubs, any input?
Options would be South Shore Select, NEFC. FC Stars probably too far away. Others?

Maybe the NPL is fine for now. I'm just not super happy with the quality of the coach on her current team. Overall the club is great, just not this coach.
From my own sporting experience, I know you have to be exposed to the highest competition level the player can handle to develop properly.
Maybe trying to move up through the Ma ODP is an option, or travel a little farther afield to the ECNL clubs.

How far are you from Hingham, Lancaster, Taunton & Mendon?
Do you want her playing highschool soccer or not?
Are you up for the $/travel commitment ECNL requires?
Is your daughter up for the time commitment?
What position does she play?
What do you think ECNL will provide that NPL does not?

1) Hingham and Taunton are doable. It would be tough to travel to practices in Lancaster and Mendon.
2) Tough question. She will be going to a a small High School with a poor soccer team. But she would be conflicted not playing with her friends. In the end she and I would be ok either way.
3) Very hardworking girl (not just dad bias) Will do what it takes to improve herself.
4) Can play many positions. Personality more suited to defense.
5) She wants to be a pro player, and I let her have that dream. Realistically my goal would be for her to play at a D1 school or and good D3 school in college. With that said I would want her on a track to get as much college scout exposure as possible. As far as competition goes not convinced there is a whole lot of difference between NPL and ECNL. Not sure about DA.

I'm not making any assumptions to where she will end up. However you have to have goals and ambitions, and a place you want to aspire to.

March for ECNL and I think January now for DA team. Pretty soon tryouts will be gone and teams will just be formed by players dropping clubs and being added during season. Bottom players pushed down to the lower team and so on.
