    2007 NEFC Pre-DA beat PennFusion Pre-DA 4-1 yesterday.

Why did the 2007s play? PennFusion not in the NE Girls Development League. Was this a friendly? Did they play anyone else this weekend or just make the trip for one game?

Older NEFC & PF teams were playing, so the 2007's came up for a friendly. Don't think they played anyone else while they were here.

Should have stopped in Lancaster for a proper game.

totally agree. Should have gone to Lancaster so that PF could have had a 1-1 record for the weekend. Would have made the moms and dads feel much better about that six hour car ride.

PF was undefeated coming into this weekend. Parents were not expecting to come here for an ass whoopin.

We must have different definitions of “undefeated” since Penn Fusion just went 1W & 2L at the WAGS tournament last month.

My bad. Looked at the league standings only.

PF went defeated at Jeff cup, Ginga beat them 3-0 and everyone else cleaned them up. Funny how a NEFC parent can get so pumped about a scrimmage against a team who has not beaten a quality team. Get out of that dying league and play some good competition.

Can't. ECNL Mafia won't allow it.

Better to have everyone travel hours to play trash vs. each other.

They can stay pumped when the clean up at the GPS tournament. They are head and shoulders above the rest of the MA teams

The “ECNL Mafia” is such a cop out. I get it that as a 2007 parent your weren’t paying attention to the DA/ECNL power struggle when the girls were U10, but the truth of the matter is that NEFC, Penn Fusion & Albertsons were ECNL clubs a few short years ago. All three chose to leave for the shiny new toy that was promised. When DA didn’t turn out to be anything better, all three of those clubs sought readmission to ECNL and were denied. The landscape changed. SUSA was added as were the Stars & PDA “White” teams.

I’m no fan of these clubs having two ECNL teams. I’d rather see PF & NEFC instead of PDA & Stars White, but the defections to DA helped create that dynamic. Personally I think Stars Blue & Scorpions would benefit by the third MA team being NEFC instead of Stars White, but that isn’t going to happen, so it is what it is.

NEFC has an excellent 2007 team, but there are a lot of strong teams that you never play because you don’t travel. Go play top flight at Jefferson Cup and you’ll see lots of teams that are just as good and a few that are a notch above. It’s like the Stars or PDA tournament on steroids.

The Mafia put clubs in both leagues to try the shiny new toy, and then pulled them out after a year and doubled down. And, let's be honest on why the left the shiny new toy for the old one: $$$

Oh I agree 100%. And I'll say Stars & PDA pulling out of DA was as much about power as it was about money. But that doesn't change the fact that NEFC chose to leave ECNL and by all accounts regrets that decision.

I would go 1 further and say 4 top teams in MA playing each other would go a long way. Also the comment on NEFC was that they were by far the best tem in MA, probably New England, not a top national team. Totally agree Jefferson Cup and PDA top tier teams are still better.

I just don’t get this. How do you know that PDA and Jeff Cup teams are better? I’m not saying they aren’t, I’m just saying you, and most everybody else, has no idea. Easy to bash good teams in your backyard, but until they play some of these “elite” teams its just speculation. Now if DA and ECNL would get out of the way they could prove you right. My guess is that 07 team would hold their own against 99% of teams in the country
