Instead all the leagues have way too much time commitment and travel for the level of competition (ECRL1); a criminally stupid level of travel for weak competition (ECRL2); or reasonable travel but fractured leagues with too wide a range of competition for stronger or less strong teams (DPL/NAL). EDP mostly isn't as far off, but those teams would still benefit from less travel.

Also, generally if the teams break up, even partly, they will find they are much worse. It takes about 15 or so strong players, with strength in every position, to be truly competitive. Less than 11-12 and the wheels fall off.
You keep pushing this idea that there’s some insane level of travel for “ECRL2” (which isn’t a thing but you seem beyond help with that regard; your agenda is set).

For anyone interested in facts over an agenda, take a look at the Sky Blue schedule. They had 1 weekend on Long Island where they played 2 games and the winter event in FL. They also had 1 game in CT. Everything else was in MA or RI.

This year Aztec North played in NAL which is local except for Syracuse. Syracuse was played in MA this year so likely in NY next, even if NAL was still an option (it’s not). Last year the team traveled to Albany for a weekend. Instead of winter in FL, they did summer in Virginia. Up until this season they always played a game or two each season in RI or CT. The Sky Blue schedule just isn’t any worse. I wonder why the above poster keeps insisting otherwise.

The level is competition is similar. The travel is similar. They CANNOT continue to play in NAL next season as Aztec won’t let them. They’re making the best decision based on the available options and no one has a gun held to anyone’s head. The negativity is unfounded and pretty ignorant. You don’t want to play in this league? Don’t. How easy is that?

OK. You don't want to play in this league, don't. But your whole premise was that the whole team was going to move and the team would still be good. IRL what happens is that the parents and players who don't want this travel choose something else, and the teams fall apart.

Yes, look at the schedule. Here's the link so people actually do it. Half your games will be home, half will be away.
          https://theecnl.com/sports/2023/8/8/...808235356.aspx - ECRL Northeast, G2007, North

NY Surf, Quickstrike, Force and Alleycats are in NY. SUSA and Slammers are on Long Island. For next year, also add in New England Surf and PSA North (NJ).

Compare that to the NAL travel schedule, it should make it clear the comment that "The Sky Blue schedule just isn’t any worse" is far from true. Every league game is in MA or southern NH. Next year there will be one in Albany.

Which is not to hype NAL as a league. Just to illustrate that level of travel, or the DPL level of travel, is what's appropriate for this level of competition. Look at the DPL New England schedule for Surf Navy:

The ECRL2 standings may be worth a look.

Strange the 2007 coaches weren’t announced. Both Aztec and Stars girls better be making plenty of calls if they want any spot for their last year or two of youth soccer.

Nothing to do with the sky blue stuff but I have a question about Stars RL if anyone knows. If Blue is typically above White, why is the White RL so much stronger than Blue RL in 2007 and why don’t they swap them? Assuming some of those girls want to play in college, isn’t it better to be on the 3rd team instead of the 4th?

Does this have anything to do with the North Shore Aztec?

It happens. The “brand” is blue. But sometimes you get a group that works really well together ie 07s, and at the RL level coaches often just let it be since it’s about player development and a feeder team for white or blue. Consolidation of talent doesn’t always happen at the ECRL level. Coaches on RL are looking at training each player to reach full potential more so then just wins. Moving players at the RL level yearly does more damage to the player psyche than benefit for the team. Confidence building is often the one thing a RL player is working through. Sticking with the same RL team helps those players build confidence as the team bonds.

Thanks for the explanation. Not a Stars parent but we play their RL teams sometimes in showcases and I was just curious how it all worked.

Gil got moved to White a couple years ago. Parents and kids wanted to play for him, they ended moving with him. Blue ended up being put together like white teams normally are filled

Nothing wrong with keeping a regional team together with a coach they like. As long as the team is performing, so be it. But this doesn’t happen often on Stars national teams. Consolidation usually happens by u15 putting top players together on National Blue. More wiggle room on regional. I think this white team may be the only white regional stars team that’s better than regional blue.

Some of Aztec teams to GA? That would be fun. Give Aztec dad a seat at table.
