NCAA and MLS/DAP is very different as there are established guidelines. Read:

In general, amateurism requirements do not allow:

Contracts with professional teams
Play with professionals
Tryouts, practice or competition with a professional team

That's why he takes his son to RDS'. Talent pool is shrinking. Playing soccer for an ISL team is not a bad thing. Good players don't regress. There's a huge upside having the ball at your feet all year round at different levels. Collegiate players play in the PDL. Happens all over the globe. Revs are too narrow minded to acknowledge this.

There must be a lot of leeway or loopholes around that last line. Revs first team takes academy players bound for college every year to compete with them in the Desert Diamond Cup. There are definitely players in college now that did trials with European teams their junior and senior years in high school.

Players don't develop from good (not great) Newton to world class with coaching and bench sitting. And the 99% washed out and ineligible for college player go where from 18-22?

Congrats to George Washington defender and freshman former Brooks player Marcelo Lage on scoring his first collegiate goal today against Binghamton. Lage was not returned to the Revs academy when Bryan Scales instituted the no HS waiver policy. Lage went to play for the Boston Bolts. Scales is a soccer Neanderthal!

Let's allow waivers to make the Revs MLS Academy better!

Surely missing an entire season is the perfect solution. Allowing ad-hoc private school coaches instill their "best" practices. That's what FC Dallas does (NOT), Atlanta (NOT), and Barca and AJAX. oh yes. by all means. Brilliant ISL entitled parents want the cake too - No one glides in front of little Tucker.
