I'm new to the area and looking for a place for my soon to be U12 player to showcase his talents. He spends every waking hour with the ball at his feet. He has played up since he was very little. He's the prototypical striker with uncanny field sense and blazing speed for his age. Should I bring him to a Revs tryout? When are they?

Yes you should. Contact the Revs to find out when.

If this is true then his previous coach should be making calls on his behalf to the best clubs in this area.

Yet more proof that the Revs are player centered, exceptional environment for player development. How would like to be standing next to this vile d:ckhead for a couple of years?

If you're a troll, what you're probably getting at is the fact that there is no U12 Revs Academy team. If not a troll, I assume your player is an '07, in which case he can look at one of the seven clubs in the region which have U12 DA (four in MA, but NH, RI or CT DA teams could be closer to you).

I believe the Revs only took one player from the U12 age group on their U13 DA team this year, so your kid would have to be pretty spectacular to play up at the Revs next fall. That said, you may be in luck, as the Revs Academy has been in a bit of a down slide, so not all the best players in the region are going to try-outs or accepting offers as of late. That could leave some extra roster spots open for a couple of younger very talented players.

                Coaches? Players? Both?

Good move. If he can make it look like it's the players' faults, maybe Burns won't notice that he doesn't know how to run an academy. Job saved!

Do we really think they'd cut large numbers of players at this point in the season? Who will they get to play? Plus moral would be in the shi**er among the players they keep.

Their thinking is get rid of five of the 2001s-2000s who aren't getting much time anyway to make room for the 20003s to play up. Of course this will happen, read your contract. They only care about 'prospects' even if those players are not really that good.

And ruin the 2003's by making them play on a horrible team.

Individual dev. Revs can be blamed for many stupid things but emphasis no individual development over wins is mandated by USSF and is correct. Have your kid play on a top NPL team if wins is your concern.

I'm pretty sure they meant ruin the individual 2003 player by making them play with horrible 02's.

Totally agreed on the players’ development requirements. However, the Revs are neither good at development or competing with the rest of the MLS academies. As a coach, I’m a firm believer that if I developed my players winning will take care of itself. Revs have a terrible record at that. Players aren’t encourage to play intelligent creative soccer. Revs development are driven by stats.
