If this is true, it's a disgrace. Just have the player sit on the bench. Slap in the face to put the players in for 1-5 minutes. Idiots.

It's true. The 16/17 coach put a player in for 5 minutes and the 17/18 coach put a player in for 2 minutes. They need to get the "games played" stat up for these players so they don't get spanked by US Soccer.

U15 coach too. Just quit now.

Being on a Revs team is really only a benefit for the parents of the players. Financially it makes a great deal of sense to play for the Revs DA teams. Parents also get to brag about their sons because, let's face it, the Revs are seen as the top youth soccer organization in New England.

For the players the experience is quite different. The practices are respectable but certainly not high calibre. The facilities certainly aren't commensurate with a professional organization. The coaching, for the most part, is acceptable but not impressive.

A chosen few get all the attention. If they decide you're not their type of player you can count on a wasted year of soccer. Development at the Revs is stifled in general, but is systematically halted when you fall out of favor and become relegated to the bench.

Every year there are dozens of "I told you so" posts on this forum about the Revs. Just throw this one right on the pile with those other ones.

Caveat emptor. Your signature on the bottom of that contract not only signs your son's rights away to the Revs, it also can cease your son's development as a soccer player.

There's always high school soccer. It's free.

All these players being jerked around are high performers. They can start on most any other team in the state. It's a total shame watching the Revs treat teenagers like this.

I can only comment on what I saw this weekend. NYCFC is a class DA program. U19 game was a contrast in style of play. NYCFC was down to 10 men due to a straight red issued to the Goalie but watching the game you are amazed how NYCFC was able to control the tempo/ rhythm of the game by how organized they are with their movements. For the fact that with a man disadvantage they were a team with more possessions and a team who transition better in their attacking and defensive shape.

My observation of the Revs is due to lack of style of play has not help their rely on some of the better players to produce results. Too many individuals dribbling in space and losing the ball in the middle. Although the game ended in a 1-1 draw the result could easily have been 6-1 for NYCFC.

Those players should immediately walk. That's pathetic!

And where do you go at this point in the year? You've already missed high school soccer. A few top club teams might have an opening here or there. Better bet may be to stay, try and get recruited as quickly as possible then bail for next year if you have something in place.

hmmmm....I wonder if better coaching and actually practicing 4 days per week has anything to do with that? Nah...couldn't be, right?

NYCFC has ramped up quickly into a decent MLS and DA program. They're even doing GDA out of the box. Imagine the Revs doing girls? They can't even get boys right.

Recruited from the bench? Go to GPS.

Atlanta is brand new and trumps the Revs in every regard.

It's a shame watching parents allow their sons to be treated like this.

I would hope at these older ages that it's the kids' choice to stay on as a bench player, and not the parents' choice. I'm sure they've weighed their options, be it at another club or just playing high school soccer (some may not have funds for non-MLS DA or high level club), and they've decided the benefit of staying on as a training player trumps those other options.

I saw at least one kid who has been in the program for a few years and seems to be getting less playing time each year. I'm sure he's not oblivious to this trend, and yet he continues to come back each year, so he must really not have any better options and may feel lucky to get some halfway decent training. Each kid's situation is different, so best not to judge other people's decisions without knowing their circumstances.

For the record. This is spot on.

The level of play on the NYCFC side was higher for all the teams, but moreso the older they got.

Ability is developed. Right training in the right amounts.

This is not k-soccer. You don't get your turn here. You earn it.

Everyone also understands the drawbacks of being the stepchild to the Patriots at the Patriots house in a land far far away. You are an unwelcome, but somehow necessary, guest, including the coaches, directors and managers.

Until that changes, you can rant and rave but it's up to you and your kid to get the hours in necessary to remain competitive. Whining here is a lost cause - or just trolling.

speaking of which, the trolling is too humorous by those who couldn't cut it ....

Really just need improvement of coaches and director to get immediate benefits. Nobody seems to know what they are doing there.
