    It was the goalie's fault.

The last desperate plea from parents who won't admit their players screwed up. 10 other players on the field bedofe the ball gets to the keeper, but it was the keeper's fault. Try again.

        Why, why have diminutive defenders?

Some parents have absolutely no clue on this. As a GK parent I can't tell you how many times I wanted to punch some big mouth parent blaming my kid for a goal. How about your slow defender kid who let the opponent slice right through the line like a hot knife in butter? the GK is literally the last line of defense. The other ten have their jobs to do as well.

How does he feel about tiny defenders?

Tiny in stature can still be mighty, just not in this case ;)

I started my kid off from day 1 not to blame the keeper. I remind them that yes, the keeper will make mistakes sometimes... but so will each of the field players - about 10 times a game - lol. A good way to teach your kid to respect their keepers is to make them try that position at practice sometimes. Humbling. 😃

Players mostly get it, especially if they've ever been put in the net a few times. The parents don't, especially if they never played soccer themselves (many have not). I'll never forget one family on one team had the grandfather at many games and he was always blaming my GK. The son/parent was always trying to correct him but to no avail.

unless he is an obnoxious keeper yelling incomprehensibly at the players.

                              Oh here we go.

It's part of the keeper's role to communicate. Don't let it hurt your feelings
