What and why exactly should they commit?
To developing players. Otherwise they will continue to hemorrhage talent.

Yes, a nice long winter break. Other MLS academies don’t do it, so I don’t think it is mandated.

Sorry, but which age group are you (those commenting on REVS cutting players) referring? And which age group do you believe is it ok to "cut players"?

Even when the Revs have winter training they frequently find reasons to cancel. My son has a good friend at a NY MLS club and they started practicing the first week after New Years.

..and it doesn't take a genius to figure out why, right?

Indoor space must be pretty tight in Foxboro in January to not have any training. My kid plays on a local DA team, they also started training a couple days a week just after New Years.

You are missing the point. The Revs don’t care about anything other than spending as little as possible on the academy. It is just a box to tick for the MLS franchise. The incompetent DOC and the pathetic coaches he hires would rather be at home than at Foxboro doing their job. You get what you pay for. Free comes at a price.

If the Revs wanted to rent elsewhere they readily could (nothing prevents them from doing so from a DA perspective). But they're cheap and don't care. That's why they don't practice

Forget ny teams. Nefc and gps teams start back right after New Years. And they are usually in tournaments over the holiday I’m surprised to hear that any academy team has a longer break.

The Revs are like the under employed boyfriend, who sits watching tv all day and f*cks you badly and infrequently. The only thing you have in common is a love if ice cream, and when you get fat and bitter he leaves you for a younger and thinner version of yourself.

It's about the dollars. Each player brings in about $5K per year in revenue

The Krafts know, to the penny, what each Revs player costs them. That's why they continue to cut corners.
