Need + merit add is not a full athletic scholarship. In most cases it won't add up to the full cost of attendance like an athletic scholarship

In the combo it's better because it can't be taken away. But it's not a full scholarship.

An upper middle class kid isn't getting any need

Angry, jealous and stupid. Top ten scorer. Maybe you are confusing with your kid?

Most male soccer players just don't get full athletic rides, there isn't enough to go around and a coach has to be judicious in how they use their money. NT level players (domestic and foreign for sure), a GK now and then. Even if a coach gives 2 fulls out that leaves 7.9 to divide among 22 and possibly more players. It's very different from women's where 50% athletic is very common. Unless you're poor and an above average student for that school don't count on financial aid or merit money until you get an actual offer from the school. You do keep Financial aid and merit all four years assuming your income doesn't change and you keep your grades up. Athletic $ are only guaranteed for four years in a few conferences; for the majority it's year to year.

agree. Jealousy is an understatement. Be happy with what you have. Count your blessings.

you are using the terms wrongly.

Scholarship can be athletic or merit. Need is financial aid which is calculated based on income/assets. However many schools lower or increase the scholarship amount based on how much Need one gets- which sucks.

Never said that aid was a scholarship

Point his, what has he done prior to this year? NOTHING. No one has ever heard of him. What's eating you dad? Michigan's scaring you a little? I would be. The pressure of performing for four years based on one measly season?
