Yes. Their egos are as big as the guy at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. They can't imagine why anyone would not want to be with the organization

The only ones that leave voluntarily are the ones who try out with academies overseas.

Not true. For all the reasons listed above, there are greener (if not cheaper) pastures.

Can you give 2 examples of boys that left voluntarily and stayed in the area? I doubt it.

TD is probably the gold medal example. EV-Y and AN are also good examples.

Last time the US beat the Croatians like 5-0.

The egos of the players and parents may be just as bad. Why do put yourself or kid through the misery? Unless you are one of the chosen few or less than 15 minutes away, your son has literally lost one or more years of school, the social aspects, watching after school games, participation in those sports, the musicals, the weekend parties, all for sitting in a car. Your son has given up a tremendous amount of his life to practice for 4.5 hours/week and to play maybe 20 minutes in a game. Even the chosen ones have little time for practice, play crappy teams, and are getting worse as each year progresses. If there ever was a race to nowhere, it is the NE Rev Academy.

These are difficult words for a parent or player to read, but they are accurate. it's a classic 'king has no clothes' situation. It's largely all the kid has known so it's very difficult to leave and made more difficult by the fact that the parent (dad), even though he may say differently, is emotionally involved in the team also. It's largely DAP in general. Not just the Revs. It's really an awful experience when you really get down to the pro's and cons and make an honest assessment.

This does not come from ignorance. I know from experience and seeing a joy return to my son that had been gone for too long.
