At that age I'd definitely take a wait and see approach. It's unclear if boys ECNL will shake things up but I think it will some. More families are seeing that DA ain't all that, but up until now there weren't as many options. You are right that foreign and prep school players are landing the prime college spots. But there are many roster spots open to non DA plyers at lower level D1, D2 and D3 schools. He may also lose interest too - happens a lot in middle school. Finally, if he's good and as long as he's at a club with good coaching, he'll have opportunities at U14+. You don't have to join now out of fear he'll be closed out. History has shown there's a lot of turnover on DA teams.

Hey dumb dumb u11/u12/u whatever parents. The last Newton Revs player was cut during pre-season freshman year at a low level D1 college program. Reality Check? It should be!

No- the best player from either teams is the skinny Valeo player in the midfield. In fact, this kid is the one to watch in the next few years. Slow physical developer but on his way.

Not the OP but it has been shown many times over the years that there is turnover, at the Revs especially. To say they're all id'd at U12 is not only not true, but I'd run away from a program that claimed it is. Yes the "top" players are obvious. But there are many others that need some more time to develop and in many times grow. A club would foolish to lock in eleven year olds and never look at anyone else. Which would explain why they don't do it.

As are some in DA. You can't define all players inside or out because there is no universal truth, particularly at the younger ages where kids are trying to sort through what really drives them.

DA will be fine, but it will take a hit. Top players, especially at MLS clubs, will stick with it.
But lower ones and those at pay to play clubs will I think at least take a look. Some DA clubs aren't any better than some non DA ones, and players can end up at the same schools without having to give up HS sports. It varies player to player but DA doesn't fit for all. Now kids will have an option, as will teh girls with GDA starting.

I know of many non DA boys, just in my town, from U10-U14 that are playing 6 days a week in the fall and spring (4 practices & 2 games)! Most participate in organized training/games at least twice a week in the winter and summer. Many also attend a camp or two in the summer.

Most of these boys also play another sport or two. If that's not dedication, I don't know what is.
