😂yes! It's surprising they held out as long as they did.

There was hope that the new MLS version of DA would do away with waivers. The supposed top tier of American youth soccer is now fully admitting that it is an exclusionary system built to cater to the 1%.

College coaches only scout games at high schools that cost as much as college.

Public high schools are for D2 players because they don’t have the academic chops to get into the NESCAC schools.
😳 you keep believing that if it makes you feel better about paying

"hope" by whom? the lesser players who don't have the leverage to demand waivers? Look, lets not pretend that there is any "development" going on at these cubs--its all about talent. If you are talented enough, they will want you enough to work with you and you can get a waiver. if not, then you have no leverage to obtain one.

I'll be glad to take a look at your list of all the high school kids recruited from high school games.

If you want a waiver you need to attend an private high school that charges $40,000+ per year. It's not about talent, it's about money.

Again, those with the talent aren't paying $40K per year.

Enough already. No one has said that but you. Everyone else has said nearly all HS players get recruited through their CLUBS, not HS soccer.

This whole discussion was all started by the idiotic statement that the top boys players don't want to play high school soccer. Nobody said they are recruited only primarily out of high school (other than the fact that college coaches sometimes show up at some high end private school matches). In the end, the thread shows that, in fact, about 70% or more of the top boys players (defined, rightly or wrongly, by D1 commits) actually do play high school soccer. I am sure even more would do so, if they were allowed to by DA or had the leverage to demand a waiver.

Exactly. DA loyalists can't admit that you can do both and that many want to do both. A big reason GDA fell apart was ECNL continued to offer girls the ability to play HS. Ok maybe you won't play at Stanford without DA but there's hundreds of other college coaches out there that don't care.

It also demonstrates that, for the Class of 2020, 9 public high school players out of roughly 3,000 graduating players from all public high schools are headed to D1 soccer teams.

Additionally, 3 of those public school players were on the MIAA D1 State Championship squad.

You're selling a dream that actually only comes to fruition for .3% of the public high school players.

Lumping full pay, high SES families with students that attend NEPSAC/ISL schools into a general discussion of "high school" players that move on to play D1 soccer skews the numbers somewhat. Teams at their schools recruit from other states and other countries all together. These teams are not what traditionally comes to mind when people wax poetic about "high school soccer."

Girls have consistently demonstrated that they require the social aspect of high school soccer much more than boys do.

                            This basically speaks for itself.

This is idiotic. The relevant comparison with the DA kids who abandon high school is with the top 2-3 other non-DA clubs. So you are really talking about comparing 20 or so graduating DA kids with the 30 or so kids graduating from NEFC, GPS, etc. That is the pool that is making the choice about high school soccer or not. And if you look at that pool, the better college outcomes seem to involve those who play for their high schools.

as a reminder 2019 commits. DA may help get you to top D1 but you don't have to have it to play in college.
