You could be the youngest, talented and most athletic player on your local high school team with ALL the exposure in the world and it’s all still a gimmick/politics.

There are 30 players from MA headed to D1 schools for soccer next year.

13 of those players are from DA.

17 of those players come from all the other clubs and leagues and also played high school soccer.

Of the 17 non-DA players 8 are from NEPSAC schools.

That leaves 9 players from all of the public high schools in MA that are moving on to play D1 soccer.

There were 16 graduating players on the Bolts and 8 on the Revs.

More than half of the graduating players on DA teams are headed to D1 schools next year.

More than 40% of all the MA players headed to play D1 soccer next year come from a pool of 24 DA players.

This has to be the best post of TS of all time; better than a comedy special on Netflix. Lori Loughlin here is instilling her soccer landscape knowledge on us pions that the answer to all our problems with college recruiting is simply having our boys pay $60,000/year to go to Milton (ISL) or Hotchiss. Problem with gettting to practice? Just have little Cooper drive his Land Rover. ECNL fees? Travel? Don’t worry, all covered by American Express. The only issue might be if the Ritz is booked during the showcase. The ultimate pay-to-play for the 0.01%. Kind of feel bad for the daughter when she gets to the real world.

Three of those nine players came from the Boys D1 State Championship team. Therefore, only six public high school players are transitioning to D1 college soccer from a total cohort of 6,000+ conservatively speaking.

1 player per 500 graduating boys on public high school soccer teams in MA end up on a D1 team.

1 player of every 2 graduating boys DA soccer players in MA end up on a D1 team.

That’s why players are foregoing high school.

ISL/prep school is a predominantly NorthEast thing. It has the largest concentration of them. Many locals can attend without having to actually ship their kids off to school.

The Revs keep adding ISL players and issuing waivers like candy.

Two committed before joining. That leaves four with any Revs history. Three of the schools you're not getting in without the grades, so again it has little to do with the Revs. Only a few are consistent top 50 programs.

Is this really all you've got? One year that is better than all the rest? Come back in three and show us an actual trend. Won't happen with the current management and coaches.

Recruited athletes at the Ivies and other top 20 academic institutions gain a measurable advantage over other potential applicants. The exposure the Revs provided gave these players an even greater advantage. They’ve parlayed free soccer at the top of the pyramid into the opportunity to attend world class schools.

Two Milton Academy players have been added to the Revs for 2020-2021.

The Revs have finally admitted defeat.

And have embraced waivers like a long lost relative

So much for their inner city initiatives and promise to provide access to underserved minority players. Instead they’re recruiting almost exclusively from high SES families. It’s heartwarming to see parents paying $60,000 per year for soccer be able to crawl out from under the burden of those $4,000 soccer fees.

Soccer is a rich kid sport. In other news, the sky is blue and water is wet.
