Agree this thread has always been positive and informative. That said a lot of players do not self list on this thread as they do not want to or are not aware of it.

I suspect the school provides it mostly since the idea of the verbal commit is to stop other schools from recruiting their player. So they want the news out there. Notice there are currently 23 on MA TDS and circa 105 here so many don't bother. If you want to try, TDS has a contact them spot on their website where you can send them a message.

Coaches can't be bothered with that. A player is expected to take themselves off the market. Clubs often times submit because it's good advertising for them

Second, I would be more curious to see this list in two years to see who is still playing at these colleges. Although quite negative, the drop-off is tremendous and many or even most of these kids will not be playing in two years or even just be playing club ball at these schools. Given the lack of JV squads with a set schedule, the rosters are 23-30 deep of which 10+ kids don't get any playtime and are likely to be replaced with incoming Freshman.

The OP of this thread has been doing it for years. It is a long term effort involving his own research, and public disclosures, and sometimes people will chime in with other names they've heard about. (I'm not sure if or how those are vetted before going on the list.

That said, he does follow up posts every year to track the question you are asking. Search old threads for last year's list and follow-up thread.

I've read a few of the past threads and absolutely there's a drop. A very large # are out by junior year and plenty never even make it on to the roster 2nd year. Always school fit first.

Can't argue the points, but there's another way you look at it. For lots of kids (more and more these days it seems), the "school fit" part doesn't work out- it's hard to know whether the kid really wants to be that far away from home, how they handle getting dumped by their high school girlfriend, how they handle living on their own for the first time, the fact that being an engineering major is a lot harder than they thought and really not what they want to do anymore, etc. So I tried to help my kid focus really hard on the "soccer fit" part- do you like the guys? do you like the coach (after really seeing him in action)? and most importantly, is it at the right level so you have a decent shot to get on the field sometime after freshman year? You can look at this list and question whether a good number of the kids (particularly the D1s) have over-shot their likely playing level- good for you if you want to challenge yourself and think you can rise to that next level, just so you go in with your eyes open and understand your position.
