OP here. This is a list of commitments this year, not necessarily just HS kids. When I start to look at class performance AA will revert to his 2015 class. Been doing it this way for 8 seasons.

Our town is the biggest youth soccer town in the state and our HS plays in the BSL. It is VERY hard to make the varsity soccer team. One recent kid was a HS All Star and DAP player who never made it on the field in college. Even when a kid is on the development academy and even when he makes it as an all star. Making these things is sometimes about other factors outside of actual talent. Making all star is a lot about how connected your coach is and how well he advocates for you. Some coaches are too old, uninterested, whatever and for that reason a talented kid goes without much recognition while an average kid makes all kind of noise. Same thing for development academy. Some kids are on it that are simply the best that club has access to and not necessarily the most talented. Or the kids who have well connected dad's with deep pockets. Bottom line is if your son is not sought after by area clubs, known by most parents/coaches/and players in his age bracket across the state, getting interest from colleges at an early age, no matter what team they're on or what state prizes they win they're still average and may never see the field at a D1.

Anybody know the story with UMass? Previously, they only had 2 or 2.5 scholarships. But everyone assumed they must have gotten more in order to lure the new coach, and this seemed to be borne out when they announced a pretty impressive class last year- but a number of those announced kids never ended up on the roster. This year, they've announced a pretty short list, but they announced earlier than many others so presumably others are coming. The new coach has already been successful in raising them out of the cellar, but that's a tough spot if he barely has any money (so you focus mainly on local kids who get the benefit of in-state tuition?).
