the talent is just not there. maybe dap with dual years will help, so we are really really talking 2.5 teams not 3. or maybe these teams will be attractive enough to draw kids from the far reaches of new england. even so, it seems a stretch to think the area will have 3 national level teams...

unless by support you mean parents will shell out big bucks. then we could have more than 3!

    what am i missing?
Not missing much. If you look at rosters, Stars ECNL are already pulling from pretty far reaches. U16 has players from ME and VT. U17 has keepers from upstate NY and NH, and field players from NH and VT. From how much further are you legitimately going to pull?

They may lose some talent, but they'll still field teams.

Anybody out there figured out how it's going to work with Stars, Scorps and now third wheel BB, all being from eastern Mass?
Looking at other ECNL conferences with this problem, the issue isn't Breakers as the third team in Boston...the real issue is Western NY as an outlier to any conference geographically.

They can solve the BB problem by pairing them with FC Stars, and then like dominoes pair Scorpions with FSA, then CFC with World Class, etc as you move south (all of those new pairs would be less than 90 minutes from each other)... and ultimately move FC Bucks into the mid-Atlantic Conference which allows them to move Indiana into the Mid West where they are currently the odd number conference.

But Western NY causes the real headache...it's 250+ miles from every other team in the Northeast. And they are 250 miles from the closest team in Ohio as well. Seriously, on a island there in Rochester, so not unreasonable that ECNL puts Western in the Mid West Conference.

But if they leave them in the NE Conference, then visiting teams will play double headers (Sat/Sun) against them. The Midwest conference does this for a couple of teams (MN and Sporting MO) who are geographically distant. I'm guessing they alternate years for which teams lose the home team advantage that year.

Look for massive conference realignments this summer to rectify SOME of this. But if they put both NY and BB in the NE, there will have to be teams moved out of the NE conference and into the Mid-Atlantic (probably the two Philly area teams) and that means two teams bumped from Mid-Atlantic to either the Mid West or the South East. My bet is that Indiana and nearby Ohio Elite get moved to the Mid-West.

Will be fun to see how well ECNL utilized the advanced Google Map tools to iron this out.

As far as the ECNL is concerned it is a non-issue. They have this same situation in many other conferences. For all the complaining the NEFC folks did about how much ECNL teams travel, the NE conference had very little travel compared to many other conferences.

So ridiculous. Thousands of players play the game in most metro areas and players travel hundreds of miles to play a kid's game. Why would anyone complain about the travel. No player needs to play soccer games hundreds and thousands of miles away to become an excellent player.

If fc boston doesn't get the boot, I could see that happening. Before MatchFit came, one of the Philly teams was a solo trip (there are 3, not 2)

Yes, that is the JM that would most likely coach the 04 2004's. But answer the earlier posters question about the JM that used to coach PC, he is also now a coach at NEFC.

He was at Loyola. I heard he left to come back home to his family in RI. Apparently he was commuting.
