Which Aztec team? Not a very strong club anymore. Not good results at the older ages and younger ages are not competitive.

Nice try with the deflection this is a Stars coach and a Stars issue! Take your beating like a man!

Go back and read some of the earlier threads. One players parent commented that his daughter overheard the Stars coach tell the NEFC coach to f-off three times. That is shameful and an embarrassment to the coach and the club. If it's true that the Stars coach made derogatory comments about the NEFC players, then I would have confronted the Stars coach too. I'm not condoning the NEFC coach for going to speak with the Stars coach, but to lose a game and then show no class during the trophy presentation is a disgrace and there is no room in club soccer for people like that. As I read the thread, someone said that this coach wasn't like that at another club, but he has set two very poor standards. One is swearing at another coach in front of 11-12 year old girls, and the second was to walk away and not attend the ceremony with the rest of his team. While coaches are paid to teach kids how to play soccer, they are also role models and should be teaching life lessons, which include humility in defeat. Be gracious winners and losers.

Apparently if you want people to make up little soccer drama there is plenty to be found at Needham. If you want competition, go to FC Delco.

No thanks Memorial Day weekend in PA sounds like a traveling nightmare! All in the name of development right?

FC Delco for the younger ages and PDA for the older kids. NEFC is a big fish in a little pond at Needham.

Anymore NEFC bashing you want to do? How did your team get on in Delco?

Ref's this year were much better than last year.

Seriously, we have this big player and he gets pushed all over the place, all the time... most refs don't call cause he's big.. almost fell over when I heard the whistle today where he got a call.

Also a handball.. is a handball...not discretionary... We have a few called against us and they were correct ... Good for them.. As long as called equally tight, I would rather see this than the fiasco's the games have turned into in the State Cup and NEP.
True sideline idiot. Once someone calls it a handball u know they are trouble. Is it ball to hand or hand to ball....

The female referees were being mentored by a very experienced referee that was ref'ing the Breakers tonight with the referees he mentored in attendance.
That is because Needham tournament somehow brings in a lot of 6s and 7s to do their highest level games (which many of them are playing in Lancaster). The local 6s and 7s are generally busy doing other higher level adult matches on a non-holiday weekend. As Needham is generally the highest level games around for Memorial Day matches, those refs get the top Needham games. Also, another thing that is in play is that SC does pay the referees slightly less than standard NEP/Maple games so there is a small incentive to keep working the available NEP/Maple instead of going to SC. Full day commitments are required for SC RRs and full weekend availability (from Friday night to Sunday afternoon) is required for SC finals.

Show me a sideline where someone yells "it was handling the ball AND with certainty, the player WAS able to remove their hand from the path of the soccer ball without inflicting possibility of undue harm to his.her person."

It don't happen folks. Nor should it... The real question is if the player committed said foul.. Frankly it is missed alot. As I said, as long as its called equally good or equally bad, that's more important to a game. Consistency...

Now can we move on, please?

If you can just humor me for a minute as I really don't know the complete rule, but when is it considered legal to 'protect' yourself by lifting your hand to deflect the ball? If there is a free kick from 30 yards out and it's headed right at a defenders face on the wall, could he lift his hand to protect his face? Certainly he just move his head as simply as his hand, no?

                            I don't know

I was reading the rule from link posted and there was some caveat about if your hand was protecting (I assume your family jewels) and the ball comes screaming at you, you don't have to move to avoid the call of handball.

Oopps, I am sorry "handling" whatever LOL

Seriously these folks that get all worked up over the term make me laugh. Who cares how fans refer to it. To me it's like the call "hanging on the rim" in basketball. I don't think there's a call "hanging on rim", it's a technical right?

Well, you don't hear fans screaming technical foul at games, you hear "hanging on the rim."

Folks in this forum try to look like an expert in this forum by pointing out the obvious instead of actually debating the issues.

The refs are the ones who get worked up over terminology. "Handling" and "Laws" vs. rules. And if you dare offer an opinion on anything pertaining to officiating they always answer "go get certified". They are a sensitive bunch.

After all you are responsible for your own actions. I don't think he has a clue what it will do to his business if that keeps up. I hope he finds peace with himself.
He walks around like a dictator now completely different person. IMO the move to Stars has backfired on all of us. There is no trust.
