Not one Stars' parent defended those kids. They were only 15/16 too. Disgraceful.
WRONG - I defended the kids and after MANY messages to the moderator I got the whole thread removed. Probably just so they wouldn't hear from me anymore. Yes I am from Stars although not that team. Maybe other posters were doing the same thing - I wouldn't know.

If you spent more time trying to prevent these attacks rather than attributing blame (when you have no idea) then maybe we could clean this forum up. And the idea that it is okay to attack kids because you think that parents from another team in a club may have attacked other kids is juvenile at best, immoral at worst.

Have a nice day; it must be swell to be you.

Who said it was ok to attack kids? Calm down.

This has actually been gone over several times. And the attackers conveniently forget every time someone defends a Stars player and bring it up again. I guess the assumption is that there are no other posters from other clubs who would defend a Stars player? Or maybe the assumption is that normal people allow other clubs' players to be attacked without defending them and only defend players from their club/team?

We need to step up for all the players here - not just the ones we like, the ones that our kid is friends with, the ones from our club. Responding that it is not okay to defend certain players because . . . is the same as saying it is okay to attack them. Maybe you draw a distinction between actually attacking or trying to stop the defense? I don't.

I heard it was a 'tough day' for one of the U16 Stars keepers! A-B GK?

Whomever it is, I'm sure she'll be fine... everyone has a bad day. Stars are lucky to have two good GKs. It's unfortunate that GKs can not afford to make mistakes as there is no one behind them. I heard many mistakes were made in the defensive 1/3d over the two games. Can anyone comment on whether the two GKs are still splitting time?

And you need to know this why? Why don't we question the forwards and midfielders for not keeping the ball better and not scoring? Unless this team is different from others it is a team sport and it is likely that all the players and the coach (who decided which players should be on the field) participated in a bad day.

Please let us know what position and team your child plays for so we can calculate the minutes of play and comment sympathetically (yeah right - that was pretty transparent) about how she/he might have had a tough day and speculate about playing time.

Yes, they are splitting time and are both terrific and interchangeable goalies. The both had fine games. The U16 team is allowed to give up goals sometimes. Give them a break. They are just like any other team.

Hey it was a bad day all round, they will be fine though as good teams bounce back. Rumour as it they have some serious injuries for this weekend. Three of the four forwards are out and so is the NT team midfielder

I find it interesting that when the Stars U16 United are playing well, people (I assume Stars' parents) are happy to discuss the team and how well it has played (see comments about the Vegas trip or the Disney trip for example) but when a question or comment is raised, when they haven't played well, responses like the one above are overly defensive and attack the poster.

Is this a forum for discussion or just a place to self-promote when things are going well?

Stars United are done, they will not make it to regionals from the R1 league. They are not good enough to beat Scorpions or Rovers in state cup

The Stars parents that have written on this site are pretty balanced in their posts. The teams do well so there is not much self promotation necessary.

Nobody at Scorpions or Rovers will be thinking like that! Wounded lion and all...

I think it is because the Stars U and Scorps have experienced so much success at the younger ages. They could do no wrong. The roster for Stars U still has a core of players who have played for Jason since they were 11 year olds! Their success not only has a lot to do with the quality of players (development), but more importantly have built a huge team chemistry and familiarity with each other. The fact of the matter is that as they now compete at the U-16 and U-17 level, they are facing teams whose players are just as skilled, and in a lot of cases physically and athletically superior. It was only a matter of time before others caught up. Players at this age and level of play are committed to playing at the highest level. They train as hard, or harder than Stars U. This was not the case when they were 12-15's. There were probably a handful of clubs in Region I who trained as frequently, and attended as many tournaments as Stars U. We all know who they are (PDA, Scorps, ENY teams, FC Delco..) Now they are up against more teams that have merged talent and clubs to become "powerhouses" at the U-16 and U-17 years. Simply put, the reason for their early success, may be their demise as they probably have gotten all they can out of the athletes they have, and the chemistry can only take them so far.

Her's hoping a speedy recovery to the Stars players who were injured.

If the Stars and Scorpions teams disbanded and never played another game they would have achieved more in youth soccer than just about all other Massachusetts teams combined. They have been that good. Together they have completely dominated the R1 scene. They have won all three R1 championships that have been played for this age group and won both R1 premier league titles. Understand that the PDA loss was the first ever in Premier action for the Stars. They were 18-0-1 up to that point. These teams have three national pool players. Thats three more than most age groups from Massachusetts. It would not be a surprise to see either or both slip some. Its very difficult to stay at the top, especially when you face teams from regions with greater populations, better climate and stronger soccer traditions. However, I would reccommend that people hold off on the obituary. I saw a lot of posts last year convinced that the Scorpions were done. The team peeked too early, others had surpassed them, spring results showed how quickly they had fell. Then in June they found a way to win their second R1 championship! Everybody knew the Stars had it stacked against them last weekend. The schedule and travel were beyond rough. The results may be disapointing but not a complete surprise. Perhaps what this shows is that they are not immune to being tired and beaten up. But I'm not so sure that it shows that they are finished.

I agree - the Stars and Scorpion parents are pretty well balanced. It is a public forum - trolls, self-promotion, disagreements, etc., all happen with anyone. I would not paint the whole group based on one parent.
