Everyone is in favor of GY over BY. It should happen, even if it doesn’t happen soon.

But in the meantime, don’t chew your knuckles. 8th graders will make it to Thanksgiving, and all HS students are on the same recruiting timeline.

Can we close the thread now?

Unless of course Academies adopt GY first and close ECNL

Not until Chicken and the Little Engines play “closing time”. But they are playing “November Rain” until the next podcast.

Did some research and they announced Feb 1st that they would switch from SY to BY. So if a change was going to be made they would follow the same time line to give clubs time to plan ahead.

So probably no news in near future.

lol you forgot to mention they gave a 2 year time line to implement it. You must work for cnn or nbc. 0 chance this happens. 0

No reason anything should take that long these days. Sounds like as usual people dragging their feet to make sure everyone is “heard.” Board run organizations at its finest.

As much as I am frustrated that ECNL tossed out a carrot in the spring which started this whole thread and all the back and forth, I am even more annoyed with College Soccer Truth which posts on both Instagram and X (twitter). They were the ones who announced beginning of July, Big News!

"Fall of 2025, the age groups are changing again to what it used to be. Club Soccer will go back to High School graduation year instead of the current model birth you. No more trap players. -ECNL Director #CSTruth Great, About time! College Coaches are going to love this!" (July 1)

Unfounded BS and the 50k followers they have a re misled.
This is not "truth" this is gossip. Until we see something from ECNL/GA/USSF there is no news and people should just carry on.

Hysterical… ballet is FAR tougher then soccer!

Even if they do make the change to GY, it will just be temporary.
Teams really need to be formed based on a combination of size and birth year at least till about u16 for girls. Because girls are all over the place till then and no by or gy grouping can even that out.

Also if we go by size (weight / height / muscle mass / BMI etc) grouping, then we can have trans girls placed appropriately.
(Who else thinks Mac Whitham was not born female?)

Why would they need to be formed based on size? Isn't it useful for development to play against players of varying sizes?

Bro wants to make teams based on muscle mass and bmi. You can’t make this stuff up.

My player is lean with very little muscle mass and low BMI but high IQ; she's very tactical and strategic.
I would like to see her play against other lean players like herself. Because then it's a game of technical skills and athletic IQ like the Europeans play it vs a game of sheer brawn like the Americans play it.
