Is this NAL finally merging their clubs into DPL? Maybe without SSS, NAL clubs can end their 1-year cooling off period. Or maybe they figured out that splitting the #2 tier of the #2 ecosystem (GA > DPL/NAL > EDP? > NECSL) is doing nothing but watering down the rosters and increasing travel times beyond what families of players at that level should tolerate. Bringing all these clubs together under one roof would actually create a decently competitive local league (even if they try to act like they're national not local). How much will it take SC and 3Step to fold the tent?

Along those lines, the "3 additional clubs" DPL is supposed to be adding next week could be the three 3Step/NAL clubs--Aztec, LFC and Seacoast MA. Seacoast already splits their boys MLS and NAL teams between NH and MA and could do same with girls GA (NH) and DPL (MA) teams. They'd have to move the current NH NAL team to EDP or another league. Maybe some combo of Ginga, Sporting CT and Ginga moves to current New York Division to balance things out.

There is no future for DPL or NAL in the northeast. These are inferior leagues. Aztec and Surf played in these leagues, but realized that there is no possibility to move up if you are close to a big GA club. All smart clubs know that it is not worth it.

DPL is really teasing this merger announcement on Tuesday. Seems bigger than NAL. Formally combining with GA?
