Right now every ambitious club chooses ECRL over DPL/NAL in the northeast. Clubs that are doing really well in NAL/DPL are not getting promoted(RI Surf is just a strategically/geographically move by NEFC) so why play there against inferior B teams, while ECRL is getting better???!

Because
1) the ECRL2 teams are bad now, and will be for at least 2-3 years. Some longer, because they are in locations that won’t support a strong team.
2) even in the North division, the teams are spread across NJ, Long Island, NY, and New England.

Bad competition, long expensive travel, what’s not to love?!

NE Surf are bitter that the GA wouldn't let go of their GPS past and let them in. They acted like children and made what will go down as a historically bad decision. They're already desperate to get a foot back in the door of the DPL.

weak attempt to rewrite history. What really happened was that NEFC didn’t want to give up any territory in metro West. And just for fun they kneecapped RI by adding both top teams. so now NEFC has no real competition in New England in GA.

Wait until Surf see's how Stars react when they apply for ECNL. If they thought NEFC was unfair this will on another level.

There isn't enough talent for 2 strong teams, so there will be 2 weak teams instead of 1 strong team. RI has about 1/7th the population of MA. And SSS and Scorpions will still pull the top players.

I really don't understand this "NEFC doesn't want competition" argument. The lack of competition in GA is a bigger threat to their ability to recruit and retain strong players than any issue that, like, they might miss the playoffs in some age group one year.

They are clock punchers who no longer need competitive teams. Less work. And they can farm out perks to highest bidder instead of best players.
