The top 5% of ECNL would still likely beat GA top teams/clubs. But, it varies by age.
So the bandwagon ECNL dads can still gloat that their league is "better" than GA. Unfortunately, the top ECNL 5% are in California and Texas so if you're in MA all you're doing is riding their coattails.

The app uses the strength of schedule of each team. Just like every other decent seeding/ranking app.

The GA Champions Cup teams are similar to the the top teams in the New England ECNL conference. Qualify some teams for Nationals, send a rare team through to the knock out, never really challenge for the final four. Very good teams. Not really elite.

This is because the rankings app calculates strength of the league into each teams overall ranking.
To address to GA teams would need to blow out the not so good GA teams in league and score as many goals as possible. Which in general is frowned upon when you're up by 5-6 goals. Or play in tournaments where higher ranked ECNL teams are playing.
ECNL teams should watch out for highly ranked GA teams that play in lower strength leagues at tournaments.

It’s a joke. My D’Souza team went from top 10 to being ranked in the 30’s without playing a game.(fall-winter)

In theory you can be a really good team in a crappy league. However to overcome the league strength adjustments you need to beat every league opponent by X number of goals (think like 8-0 games).
The problem with this is when really good teams get ahead of crappy teams it's tradition, customary, "nice" to lay off the gas and stop scoring goals once you're up by 5-6.
You are correct that a loss when you're playing in a lower strength league effects your ranking more than a loss in a higher strength league. Assuming both teams lose the same ranked opponent.

If you lose against PDA you are hopefully still winning against someone else who is still good, just not as strong as PDA, in your strong league, Thar should still keep your ranking high compared to people who get crushed by PDA and your team, and who only beat opponents that are much weaker than all your teams.
Obviously if you only lose in your strong league then things are different. Do you also want participation points for being in the strong league?

If you need to win by 8 to keep your current ranking metric then I think you’re in an inappropriate league. Time to level up.
