If the coach right from the start made it clear that practice attendance would be taken into account when it comes to playing time decisions, then sorry to say, but players who miss practices for other than sickness or injury should expect less playing time than those who attend most practices. Coaches and clubs cannot be accountable for kids who miss practices.

Spot on! But the question is... how many coaches actually make this clear from the start?

what path? That you should get what you pay for? If a club wants to cut a player at the end of the agreement, im fine with it. If you recruit a player, then its up to BOTH of you to make it work. Learning the game include making mistakes.

If a player needs to maintain a certain attendance record to be included on the game day roster, cool. Does not change the starting point which is subject to that, all players should expect equal time.

Players who miss practices because of other HS sports obviously don't make any mistakes... because they are NOT at practice! LOL

I don't necessarily disagree, but does the math work out when you have a lengthy roster. Yes, I know it does, if you are willing to play certain players out of positions where they are normally successful, but it seems that a team with a large roster may find it a difficult trick to keep everyone equal (and happy). Is there an argument to be made for the hard-working, talented player who never misses practice. Should he be splitting time with some of the others who don't meet those criteria? I'm sincerely asking, not being pointed.

Nope. At that level, in addition to paying the money, you are making the commitment to get to practices and put in the work away from the field. If you don’t hold up your end, you can’t expect anything in return. If you can’t make the commitment, don’t write the check.

Would you pay school tuition and then expect your kid to automatically get the same grades as the other kids. You paid the same amount after all.

Show me where in the contract it states that you are paying for X-amount of minutes, then you can talk.

Thats fine but then they shouldn't be participating in the top leagues bur rather a level below. They can be multisport athletes but they can't expect to do everything at the highest levels.

No. I would expect that they get to attend all of the classes though. They need opportunity to play. They need more than a few minutes here and there. Some get 70 while others get 10. Certainly the one playing 70 will get better.

If you are talking NECSL, sure. If you are talking GA or ECNL, let's agree to disagree and move on.
