Post 1: anyone thinks the path to "earning" athletic scholarships isn't paved with a little gold (or green I guess)....
Response: Exactly....basically the scholarship is offset by the parents payments thru the years.
I agree that the club system is priced too high but the point is the parents who take joy in saying "my kid is on scholarship, isnt costing us much to send him or her to school" Well, ya...right now it may not be but via the Club system, you've basically prepaid for the scholarship. If you've spent $20K in Club to get a $20K scholarship, the kid isnt going for free.

Speaking only from our situation, daughter played 4years @ Div 1 private. Scholarship was 75% Freshmen , 85% Sophmore, Full Jr & Full senior. Played for more than 1 club team (not stars) no ecnl and the expenses WERE FAR less than the total athletic grant.

However; if your kid is WILDLY talented and the type of player that will make a good team great, I'm sure the club will help you out with some kind of scholarship aid if you need it. The need good teams at the top to pull in the suckers.
