How ludicrous is this? One elderly victim with a compromised immune system and only 3 cases in the state and we shut down. If the mosquitoes are causing this much disruption, what happens when the bird flu shows up in force. If they close the malls, you"ll know it's serious. What pant loads we have in charge.

The safety of the students more important then sports. There is a case in central MA with a teenager. Get over yourself!

Yeah, in Northborough, so N'boro/S'boro is affected. I agree, kids' health comes first. Soccer's just a game.

I attended our town's Selectmen's meeting last night and one of the agenda items that came up was a request by the town soccer league to have the town spray the location of the soccer fields because there are many early evening games and practices. The Selectmen were told by the DPW and Board of Health that spraying this late in the season will not have an effect. Therefore there will be no spraying. It will be interesting to see if our town will make any schedule changes.

Not the op, but just thinking that this winter when the flu becomes widespread do you think we should cancel all of our indoor winter sports? Our at least have the kids play to empty stands? Last time I checked the flu kills many more people than either of these two diseases. The hype the media stirs up over this is over the top. Life is full of risks. You can minimize either of these with the flu shot our a can of big spray.

This doesn't make allot of sense since the killing would happen instantly. I'd question those two organizations and their true intent. They always spray for west nile when it surges. My guess is the application process to get the emergency funds would take to long.

No, just a person obsessed with common sense. Sunburn causes melanoma in far greater numbers than this "outbreak", so shall we ban all games on sunny days? Good luck to you when the zombies arrive...

Clubs training after dusk in high risk areas are taking a huge chance with the lives of their players and could be found liable should an infection occur.

My club agreement did not specify acts of god for practice cancellations,so I would expect a refund for missed practices
